Under the general direction of the Engineering Manager, the Project Engineer serves as the Engineer of Record (EoR), responsible for ensuring that engineering design and project execution comply with all regulatory, technical, and contractual requirements. This position provides technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle, overseeing design development, ensuring code compliance, and supporting successful project delivery. The Project Engineer works closely with the Project Manager and cross-functional teams to deliver technically sound solutions—on time, within scope, and on budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the engineering design process for assigned projects, ensuring compliance with client specifications, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
  • Review and approve engineering documents, including P&IDs, General Arrangement drawings, calculations, and technical specifications.
  • Collaborate with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders to manage expectations, resolve technical issues, and communicate project updates.
  • Maintain quality control throughout the design and construction phases by reviewing deliverables for technical accuracy and adherence to internal standards.
  • Track and coordinate engineering deliverables and schedules; proactively communicate any risks or delays to the Project Manager and help develop mitigation plans.
  • Participate in HAZOP and design reviews, providing technical input and ensuring timely closure of any identified action items.
  • Identify and address project risks, and develop corrective actions as needed.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of engineering decisions, changes, approvals, and certifications.
  • Conduct site visits and Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) to verify construction/fabrication progress and adherence to safety and technical requirements.
  • Support procurement and construction teams by resolving design-related issues during execution phases.
  • Prepare progress reports, technical summaries, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Analyze technical challenges and implement effective, practical solutions.
  • Travel as required, including internationally; must be eligible to obtain a U.S. passport.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 5–7 years of engineering design experience, preferably within EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) project environments.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license required.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable industry codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrated expertise in design development, engineering calculations, and technical oversight.
  • Proficiency in design and analysis software (e.g., AutoCAD, HYSYS, Etap, Revit, Civil 3D).
  • Familiarity with project management principles and construction practices.
  • Proficient in MS Office and other relevant project tools.
  • Experience in commissioning and startup of plants or industrial facilities.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to develop practical, technically sound solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently.
