Job summary

Royal-American-Construction seeks a Project Engineer to support the Project Manager and Superintendent on multifaceted construction projects in Florida. The role blends field and office duties, tracking schedules, submittals, RFIs, and correspondence to keep projects on time and on spec.

You will coordinate meetings with subcontractors and city officials, maintain documents, and help resolve design and field issues. A construction-related degree and 1–2 years of experience are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in construction management/engineering preferred.
  • 1–2 years of experience as a Project Engineer or similar role with a general contractor.
  • Direct experience managing submittals and RFIs.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Project Manager and Superintendent with daily duties and operations.
  • Maintain project schedules using Primavera P-6 or Procore Schedule.
  • Create and maintain project documentation including RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes.
  • Coordinate meetings with subcontractors, clients, and city officials.
  • Prepare and distribute inspection/test results and finalize punch lists.

Job description

*Knowledgeable in ProCore, RFIs and construction submittals.Summary:This position is a construction industry position that will assist the Project Manager and the Superintendent, providing administrative and technical services in the fields of scheduling, cost engineering, subcontract coordination, and general project administration. Knowledge of Primavera P-6, Procore, Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Office experience preferred.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:General Project SupportAssist Project Manager & Superintendent with daily duties and operational activities.Help maintain safe and compliant work sites.Keep track of employee time, quantities performed, and site correspondence.Purchase materials for projects as directed by the Project Manager or Superintendent.Work in both field and office environments; occasional travel may be required.Demonstrate the ability and desire to grow into a Project Manager or Superintendent position.Meetings & Subcontractor CoordinationConduct pre-construction and progress meetings. (OAC/ Subcontractor/ City officials)Attend job site meetings, maintain detailed meeting minutes, and distribute them to subcontractors, clients, and city officials.Coordinate regular meetings with subcontractors, project owners, and internal teams.Project DocumentationCertify, review, expedite, write, and track material submittals and Requests for Information (RFIs).Review all catalog cuts and material submittals for full compliance with plans and specifications.Maintain, update, and distribute official construction documents (Plans, RFIs, ASIs, PRs, etc.).Maintain & update Procore (core & Management tool)-Director, plans, daily logs, photos, etc.Quality Control & InspectionReview plans and specifications to ensure requirements are met for each construction process.Distribute written inspection and test results to appropriate agencies.Conduct pre-final inspections, establish punch lists, and ensure all identified deficiencies are corrected.Field and manage project warranty requestsScheduling & CloseoutCreate and maintain detailed project schedules. (Primavera p6 or Procore Schedule)Assist in resolving design and field engineering issues efficiently.Manage the project closeout process, including owner training and archiving project records.Create Work Plans and hazard analyses and maintain Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).Permits & InspectionsCoordinate plan submittals with the building department and permit expeditors.Track permits, comments, revisions, and municipal approvals.Coordinate projects across the design team, building department reviewers, and internal teams.Identify and resolve plan review comments efficiently.Schedule inspections and manage the process to close out permits successfully.Maintain organized, audit-ready records for all permits and approvalsPerformance Requirements:To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies to perform the essential functions of this position.Problem Solving - Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner; gathering and analyzing information skillfully to develop alternative solutions.Communication and Interpersonal Skills - Write and verbalize clearly, informatively and effectively, able to read and interpret written information.Diversity - Respectful and sensitivity to cultural differences. Embraces life-long learning and strives to stay current with new industry trends and practice.Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:Working knowledge of construction practices, methods, building trades, RFIs, RFPs, product submittals, bid analysis, and scope/specification development.Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, Excel and Word, Adobe Acrobat or Bluebeam.Proficient use of computer-aided engineering and drafting software.Ability to develop, maintain, and monitor project baseline schedules for large-scale construction projects using Primavera P-6 software or Procore Schedule.Hands-on experience utilizing Procore Construction Management software platform.Education and Experience:Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Construction Management / Construction Engineering, OR a Construction Management Certificate from an accredited university preferred.1–2 years of experience as a Project Engineer or similar role with a general contractor.Direct experience managing Submittals and Request for Information (RFI) processes.Experience working on multifamily projects valued at $10 million or above is preferred.Essential Job Functions:Ability to perform essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodationAbility to drive between job sites and use own or company vehicles and equipment to perform job functions.
