The Project Management Project Engineer is an extremely valued team member who is responsible for providing support and assistance to Project Managers in the management of assigned Company projects. The Project Engineer works in partnership with Project Managers, and other departments, to ensure that projects are built on time and within budget and conform to the requirements of the contract documents. The Project Engineer is also responsible for satisfying the objectives and goals of the operating and strategic plans of the Company.

Total Compensation

$78,900.00 to $113,300.00 annually

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensure field compliance with contracts, regulatory and legal requirements by reviewing project documentation and communicating requirements to operations supervisors and staff.
  • Assist in completion of project specific requirements as requested/needed by operations staff.
  • Support the Project Managers in collecting and processing project submittal information.
  • Generate and monitor Requests for Information (RFIs) and keep operations and project management staff informed of responses.
  • Ensure accuracy of project reported quantities by way of field measurements.
  • Assist Project Managers in change order pricing and monitor status.
  • Monitor and communicate the status of project costs to Project Managers and operations.
  • Support the Project Managers in preparation of monthly project billings.
  • Monitor and report project information as required by the client, operations and project management staff.
  • Research and recommend resolutions to drawing interpretation problems, conflicts, interferences and/or errors.
  • Prepare and disseminate all required documentation records such as status reports, punch lists describing work items to be done, sketches of work already completed, material requirement calculations, etc., to the project team.
  • Assist Project Managers in preparation of information verifying project performance and presentation of project performance to Company management/executives/owners.
  • Ensure that all business is conducted using the highest ethical standards and in compliance with all applicable laws, statutes and regulations as well as Company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Ensure project activities comply with Company and contract requirements and support overall construction schedule.
  • Provide technical support for the construction effort including participation in construction planning and design, interpretation of design, application of construction methods, resolution and documentation of design conflicts and constructability reviews.
  • Represent the Company, the project and the Department during client and project management meetings.
  • Support on‑site teams as required to resolve problems, ensure quality of construction in support of overall project schedule.
  • Support an environment that encourages open, honest and appropriate communication and transparency, leading to a shared understanding of all key issues and enabling informed decision making.
  • Take full ownership of each assignment, shepherding it through to successful completion, working in close collaboration with all involved parties.
  • Demonstrate professional communications skills and communicate in a manner that provides clear direction and quality leadership.
  • Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, or design professionals to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints or construction problems.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Departmental quality control measures.
  • Interpret and explain plans and contract terms to administrative staff, workers and clients representing the Owner or Developer.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
  • Big picture perspective, including the ability to understand projects from a thousand‑foot view and prioritize needs and timelines in accordance with overall goals
  • Superior communication and people skills, including the ability to drive impact without authority and maintain a perpetual sense of calm amid potential chaos
  • Solid understanding of physical engineering principles and application, including:
  • Ability to read and interpret civil plan drawings
  • Superb spatial reasoning
  • Ability to apply these skills to resolve real world construction problems
  • Initiative and ownership, including a drive to learn, understand, and implement effectively
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, including:
  • Ability to resource knowledge of federal, state, and municipal building codes related to earthwork construction activities, excavation, demolition and utilities
  • Ability to react to challenges quickly and effectively and follow‑through
  • Perpetual working knowledge of assigned projects including specifications and scope requirements and use of the information to ensure project is constructed in accordance with intended design, quality and safety standards
  • Willing and able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and/or holidays as required to accommodate customer and project demands
  • Intermediate level computer skills with experience using the Microsoft Office Suite and Project Scheduling Software
  • Valid driver’s license
  • High school diploma or GED
Preferred
  • General understanding of safety and OSHA compliance
  • Understanding of budget project principles
Language Skills

This position requires the ability to communicate in English with co‑workers and the general public.

Mathematical Skills

This job requires the ability to do and understand complex math equations.

Physical Demands

Work functions require the physical ability and mobility to safely walk in uneven, undeveloped, slanted, and potentially muddy grounds as well as climb various pieces of equipment. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds intermittently. Ability to sit, stand or walk for long periods of time. Work functions also require the ability to withstand the office environment, sitting and standing for extended periods of time, reading a computer screen for extended durations, and maneuvering paperwork.

Work Environment

Combination of outside work and office environment. Outdoor work exposed to variant weather conditions (extreme heat, cold, rain, snow) and muddy ground conditions. Indoor work environment includes changing office temperatures, extended desk and screen time.
