The City of Scottsdale seeks a senior project engineer/manager to lead high‑level engineering and management for transportation, infrastructure and public facilities from inception to completion. You will coordinate with external agencies to advance city projects and ensure compliance and timely delivery.

The role requires a Civil Engineering or Construction Management degree and extensive public works experience, including supervisory responsibilities.

• Three years of supervisory experience.

Job description

Provides high-level professional project engineering and management services, direction and guidance for the city's construction of transportation & infrastructure and public facilities from project inception through completion of construction. Acts as the city's liaison to outside agencies including but not limited to: Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT), Flood Control District of Maricopa County (FCDMC), Salt River Project (SRP), Arizona Public Service (APS), Scottsdale Arts for coordination and for maintenance of any agreements.

Anticipated starting salary for this position may be up to mid-point depending on candidate’s experience and internal equity. The full salary range is listed above and mid-point for this position is $67.75/hour or $140,920.00/annually.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field from an accredited educational institution.
• Ten years' professional level public works and public facilities project management experience.
• Three years of supervisory experience.
• Any equivalent combination of education and job-related experience that meets the minimum qualifications may be substituted.

LICENSING, CERTIFICATIONS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

• Must possess, at time of application, and maintain a valid, unrestricted driver's license with no major citations within the past 36 months prior to the start date. The Arizona Motor Vehicle Department requires that out-of-state driver's licenses must be surrendered within 10 days of relocating to the State of Arizona. Note: Graduated Driver’s Licenses are considered restricted.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer or Architect (depending on assignment) with the Arizona State Board of Technical Registration, OR by the technical board of another state with the ability to obtain Arizona Registration through reciprocity within 6 months of employment.
• Every person employed by the City of Scottsdale shall reside in the State of Arizona during his or her active employment by the City, regardless of whether the employee is approved to remote work.

Other pertinent licenses and/or certifications may be required of some positions depending on department/section assignment.
