Job summary

Primoris Heavy Civil is seeking a Project Engineer to support the project team in delivering heavy civil construction projects. You will assist with planning, execution, and closeout, and coordinate with subcontractors and internal teams to ensure timely execution.

The role requires a BS degree in Civil Engineering or related field and 1–3 years of experience; familiarity with Primavera P6/HCSS HeavyJob/Bluebeam/AutoCAD is a plus. Travel to project sites may be required.

Job Overview:The Project Engineer will assist the project team in managing various aspects of heavy civil construction projects in Abilene, TX, ensuring successful project delivery.Job Responsibilities:Assist Project Managers and Superintendents in planning, executing, and closing out heavy civil construction projects.Review and interpret project drawings, specifications, and other contract documents.Develop and maintain project schedules, track progress, and identify potential delays.Prepare and process submittals, RFIs (Requests for Information), and change orders.Conduct quantity take-offs and assist with cost control and budget management.Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure timely and efficient project execution.Participate in project meetings, take minutes, and distribute relevant information to stakeholders.Perform site visits to monitor progress, ensure quality control, and address any field issues.Prepare daily reports, progress reports, and other project documentation.Assist in ensuring compliance with safety regulations and quality standards.Support the project closeout process, including punch list completion and final documentation.Job Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.1-3 years of experience in heavy civil construction projects preferred.Strong understanding of construction processes, methods, and materials.Proficiency in construction software (e.g., Primavera P6, HCSS HeavyJob, Bluebeam, AutoCAD) is a plus.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and contracts.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.Company Overview:Primoris Heavy Civil provides highway, port, airfield, rail and marine (intermodal transportation) construction services to private commercial and industrial clients as well as governmental entities such as the Department of Transportation and the US Army Corps of Engineers.
