Job summary

Scarsella Bros., Inc. is seeking a Project Engineer to join the Port of Seattle project team in the Seattle area. Responsibilities include submittal management, RFI handling, drawing interpretation, and field coordination.

Responsibilities

  • Review, prepare and manage submittals, RFIs, and document management.
  • Assist interpretation of drawings and specifications for field crews.
  • Perform quantity calculations from drawings and specs.
  • Assist in work plans, packages, and field surveying.
  • Assist in daily labor timesheet processing and jobsite safety reviews.
  • Coordinate material deliveries and scheduling on the jobsite.
  • Supervise field operations and subcontractor activities.
  • Assist with data for submittals to customers, vendors, and government agencies.
  • Prepare purchase orders/subcontracts and assist in cost reporting.
  • Maintain project records, daily reports, and RFIs.

Scarsella is currently looking for a project engineer to join the team with our Port of Seattle project group. Responsibilities and qualifications are listed below.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Primary responsibilities will include review, preparation and management of submittals, RFIs, and document management.
  • Assist in interpretation of drawings and specifications for field crews and craft supervision
  • Perform quantity calculations by taking measurements and determining percentage of completed/installed materials and work
  • Assist in the preparation of work plans and work packages
  • Assist in field surveying and work layout support including elevation, control points, and compilation of as-built data
  • Assist in compiling, processing, and confirming daily labor timesheets
  • Participate in jobsite safety reviews, toolbox meetings, mass safety meetings, and safety training
  • Order and schedule material deliveries
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate work groups on the jobsite
  • Supervise field operations
  • Perform material takeoffs from drawings, specifications and other contract documents
  • Perform basic engineering calculations and technical drafting to support field operations
  • Assist Project Management in gathering and preparing data for submittal or transmittal to the customer, vendors, subcontractors, governmental agencies, and internal use
  • Assist in preparation of purchase orders and subcontracts, performing minor solicitations and purchasing as requested
  • Assist in schedule maintenance and performing updates as directed by others
  • Assist in the maintenance of basic project recordkeeping and correspondence functions including daily reports, photographs, requests for information (RFIs), and memorandums
  • Assist with entering data into the job cost system and participate in reviewing cost reports with jobsite management
  • Assist in generating change orders and as-built data to be reviewed by the Project Manager
  • Provide field support and supervise subcontractor operations
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Ability to travel and relocate as needed
  • 2+ years' construction field experience
  • Work experience in engineering and leading engineers
  • Undergraduate degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related
  • Ability to read, analyze and identify discrepancies on engineering plans, specifications, and contract documents
  • Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environment
  • Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative
  • Strong work ethic, willing to do what it takes to get the job done right the first time
  • Demonstrated commitment to ethics and integrity
  • Passion for safety, with the ability to help us ensure that nobody gets hurt
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills

Project Engineer

Typical Schedule: M-F On Site 8 AM-5 PM or 7:00AM-4:00 PM or as scheduled.

Salary:

Project Engineer 1- $70,000-84,999

Project Engineer 2-$85,000-$104,999

Project Engineer 3- $105,000-$125,000

Assistant Project Manager-$125,000-$145,000

Health Insurance: Employer pays 100% of Employee’s Cost of Insurance. Aetna Insurance Policy; Employee Assistance Program

401K: Employer Sponsored 401K Program; Safe Harbor 3% of Employees Salary after 90 days, plus a match of 1.5% after 1 year.

PTO: May accrue up to 120 hours per year.

Holidays: 7 Days; New Years Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Day after Thanksgiving, Christmas.
