Qualifications

• Internship experience with a construction company preferred.

Responsibilities

• Notifies subcontractors of commencement dates and expedites deliveries to avoid delays.
• Assists in preparation of the submittal schedule and maintains logs; ensures timely submissions.
• Prepares reports such as material, submittal, RFI, and long-lead item logs.
• Verifies subcontractor payment requests and reviews invoices for quantities and prices.
• Responds to RFIs from owners and subcontractors and routes information to field staff.
• Assists in compiling close-out documents and may support estimating activities when not on a project.

Responsibilities

1. Notifies subcontractors of commencement dates; solicits delivery schedules from suppliers and expedites deliveries to avoid costly construction delays
2. Participates in the proposed changes process by preparing quantity take-offs
3. Assists in the preparation of the submittal schedule as required to meet construction schedule and coordinates submissions with subcontractors; assumes overall responsibility for submittals, including checking for accuracy, transmittals to and from subcontractors, architects, and superintendents, and maintains logs; expedites delivery of submittals when necessary to avoid delays in construction; keeps project manager abreast of submissions that will impact schedule
4. Prepares and/or oversees preparation of a number of reports dealing with the project such as material logs, submittal logs, RFI logs, drawing logs and long- lead items log as required by owners and/or company operating procedures
5. Assists in the verification of monthly subcontractor payment requests
6. May assume a role in locating suppliers for various building materials; reviewsinvoices upon request to verify quantity, quality and prices for construction materials
7. Responds to requests for information (RFIs) from owners and subcontractors, preparing RFIs for the project architect and/or structural engineer of record when necessary to clarify technical issues concerning the project; ensures that informationreceived in response to RFIs is routed to the applicable field superintendent andsubcontractors
8. Assists in compiling close-out documents including as-built drawings, guarantees,warranties, service manuals and other related documents for delivery to the owner;may prepare Austin’s warranty for inclusion in this package and assist in preparing other close-out documents as assigned
9. When not assigned to a project, the PE II generally is assigned to the Estimating Department, preparing detailed cost estimates; may assist with value engineering activities and the pricing of those alternate procedures; interacts with a wide variety of construction professionals, including owner representatives, architects, structural engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, etc.
10. Participates in jobsite safety as outlined in company’s Safety & Health Manual
11. Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• B.S. in construction management/science, engineering, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Internship experience with a construction company strongly preferred
• Successful completion of OSHA 30-Hour Construction Industry Outreach Training required (may obtain within first year of employment)
