Job summary

Toyota Automated Logistics is seeking a Project Engineer (Systems) in Indianapolis to join our team. The role involves supporting multiple projects and quotations under direct supervision, with exposure to concepting, analysis, sales support, and installation activities across material handling systems.

Responsibilities include system design, site supervision, troubleshooting, and coordinating with Project Managers on large projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering (or related field).
  • Demonstrated leadership and teamwork skills.
  • Strong problem-solving capability for hardware and controls.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and AutoMod or similar software.
  • Eligible to work in the USA long term without sponsorship.
  • Excellent scheduling and organizational abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Design, site supervision, troubleshooting and project management.
  • Assist with AutoCAD drawings, quotes, spare parts orders and other design tasks.
  • Improve project execution processes and timelines (Gantts, CI).
  • Resolve issues promptly to ensure customer satisfaction with Support.
  • Assist with on-site installation including material inventory and scheduling.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers on large, complex projects.
  • Develop understanding of material handling equipment, suppliers and applications.
  • Provide customer support for ongoing and warranty projects.

The Project Engineer should demonstrate an eagerness to learn our industry and the various aspects involved with our system designs and equipment applications. The Project Engineer will be involved with supporting multiple projects and quotations with direct supervision and will be exposed to various phases of project engineering including: concepting and application research, sales support, estimating, component selection, conveyor system design, ACAD layouts of material handling systems, soliciting vendor pricing, supporting on site installation, debug and system commissioning.

Job Functions
  • Time will be spent in system design, site supervision, troubleshooting and project management.
  • Assist with AutoCAD drawings, quotes, spare parts orders, and other general design responsibilities
  • Improve project execution processes (Gantts, continuous improvement)
  • Timely resolution of issues and customer satisfaction with Support
  • Assist with site installation to include material inventory, schedule tracking, and supervising subcontractors
  • Work directly with Project Managers as an assistant on large, complex projects
  • Develop in depth understanding of all facets of material handling to include equipment, suppliers, and applications
  • Provide Customer support for ongoing and warranty projects
Travel Requirements
  • 30% overnight travel (Travel expenses paid by Toyota Automated Logistics)
Required Qualifications And Preferred Skills
  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering (or related degree)
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Excellent technical problem solving capability (hardware, controls)
  • Strong scheduling and organizational skills.
  • Enjoys the Supply Chain Automation, Logistics Software business environment.
  • Enjoy working in team environment
  • Experience with AutoCAD and AutoMod or similar software
  • Must be eligible to work in the USA long term without sponsorship.
