Job summary

Toyota Automated Logistics is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead projects from sales through installation and go-live. You will coordinate with engineering, procurement and customer teams to ensure on-time delivery, quality and budget adherence across multiple sites.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Engineering (or equivalent), 5+ years PM experience, and strong financial awareness. Advanced certifications (MBA or PMP) are a plus; travel is a core component of the position.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent technical experience.
  • MS, MBA or PMP certification a plus.
  • 5+ years' experience in project management.
  • Experience in material handling, robotics, manufacturing or packaging preferred.
  • Experience and/or education in basic financials, conversant with ROI, cash flows and depreciation.
  • Must be extremely literate with MS Office suite (particularly MS Excel).
  • MS Project or similar experience is required
  • AutoCAD experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review proposals, contracts and orders for accuracy and issues.
  • Estimate and direct internal resources to complete the project.
  • Maintain positive cash flow; coordinate with accounts on invoices.
  • Publish weekly Project Logs.
  • Monitor budget margins and forecasts for major projects.
  • Manage project correspondence and submittals (drawings, letters, parts lists).
  • Manage the project schedule using a Gantt chart.
  • Support Site Supervisors in the field.

Job description

The Project Manager's involvement begins in the sales cycle. This may involve estimating, solicitation of subcontractor proposals, assistance in presentations, review of proposed contracts, project scheduling and systems design. As the sales process transitions into the implementation phase, the PM takes on increasing responsibility for understanding and controlling Toyota Automated Logistics risk from technical, contractual, cash flow, and organizational standpoint. This may involve estimating, solicitation and selection of subcontractor proposals, assistance in presentations, defining project implementation timeline, review of contracts, and systems design. The Project Manager will stay involved and travel to the customer site throughout the installation, go-live and acceptance process ensuring customer satisfaction while maintaining the project budget and timeline.

Job Functions
  • Work with the assigned team to review proposals, contracts and new orders for accuracy and commercial and technical issues.
  • Estimate and direct internal Toyota Automated Logistics resources necessary to successfully complete the project.
  • Maintain positive cash flow on all projects. Work with accounts and business support specialist to follow-up on past due invoices.
  • Publish weekly Project Logs.
  • Be aware of budget margin and current forecast margin +/- 1% of all major projects at all times (Typically 2-3 projects at a time).
  • Responsible for content, format and timeliness of all project correspondence and submittals including drawings, letters, equipment and controls documentation, spare parts lists, purchase orders.
  • Manage the project schedule. Use electronic Gantt chart for installed projects.
  • Support the Site Supervisors when they need help in the field.
Travel Requirements
  • 80% daily travel to customer sites with occasional overnight travel (Travel expenses paid by Toyota Automated Logistics)
Preferred Skills And Required Qualifications
  • Bachelors of Engineering required or Bachelors Degree with equivalent technical experience.
  • MS, MBA or PMP certification a plus.
  • 5+ years' experience in project management.
  • Experience in material handling, robotics, manufacturing or packaging preferred.
  • Experience and/or education in basic financials, conversant with concepts of project ROI, discounted cash flows, simple and compound interest and depreciation.
  • Must be extremely literate with MS Office software suite (particularly MS Excel).
  • MS Project or similar experience is required
  • AutoCAD experience is preferred.
  • Must be able to work long-term without the need of sponsorship
