Job summary

Weston Solutions, Inc. is seeking a Project Engineer for Municipal Water/Wastewater in Houston, TX. The role supports design, evaluation, and optimization of water and wastewater systems, with field investigations and coordination across engineering sub-disciplines.

The position requires a Civil/Environmental/Mechanical/Chemical Engineering degree and a Texas-licensed P.E. with 10+ years of experience; 15+ preferred. Local travel and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

• B.S. or M.S. in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering.
• Texas-licensed P.E. certification.
• Local travel/field work for site inspections and meetings with client site representatives.
• Excellent writing and verbal communication skills for interaction with multi-disciplinary staff, clients, and regulatory agencies.
• Proficient in using typical business software (Word, Excel, Project, Adobe); AutoCAD/GIS knowledge is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support civil and environmental engineering projects including wastewater infrastructure evaluation, rehabilitation, design, and optimization of water and wastewater treatment systems.
• Prepare technical reports and assist with schedule tracking and cost estimates.
• Coordinate with team surveying, geotechnical, structural, and electrical engineers; mentor junior staff.
• Interact with clients professionally and respond to questions while escalating to senior team members as needed.
• Coordinate with QA/QC reviewers and financial analysts; assist in bid/award services and construction phase engineering.

The Project Engineer – Municipal Water/Wastewater will provide support for civil and environmental engineering projects including wastewater infrastructure evaluation, rehabilitation, design, implementation, and optimization of water and wastewater treatment systems.

• Technical report writing
• Field investigations/site reconnaissance.
• Utility coordination.
• Erosion/sedimentation control and tree protection plans.
• Engineering cost estimating and analysis.
• Wastewater flow development and hydraulics analysis.
• Engineering design calculations.
• Engineering specification review and preparation of contract documents for construction.
• Bid and award services.
• Construction phase engineering services.
• Coordinate with team surveying, geotechnical, structural engineering, and electrical engineering subconsultants.
• Coordinate with internal QA/QC reviewers, financial analysts, and administrative assistants.
• Engage associate-level engineering staff on team in design activities to promote growth in their skills through work delegation, quality reviews and backchecks and mentorship.
• Assist the project management team in updating / tracking schedule progress and estimating and tracking project costs.
• Interact with clients in a professional manner, responding to client questions and requests and escalating to more senior team members when appropriate.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• B.S or M.S degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering or related discipline. A minimum of 10 years of related experience. 15+ years of related experience is preferred.
• Texas-Licensed P.E. certification.
• This position will require some local travel/field work for site inspections and meetings with client site representatives and construction contractors.
• Excellent writing/verbal communication skills for interaction with multi-disciplinary staff, clients, and regulatory agencies.
• Excellent organization and design planning skills.
• Self-starter, detailed oriented, and finisher.
• Proficient in using typical business software (Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, Adobe, etc.).
• AutoCAD/GIS operating knowledge is preferred.
