Job summary

CobbFendley Inc. is seeking an experienced Municipal Project Engineer for our Austin, Texas office. This full-time position offers a competitive compensation package, including health and retirement benefits, and the possibility of a hybrid work schedule after training.

The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, possess an Engineer in Training designation, and have at least 2 years of professional experience. Responsibilities include design tasks, quality assurance, and collaboration with stakeholders.

  • Proficiency with industry-standard software.
  • Ability to use spreadsheets and word processing software.

Responsibilities

  • Complete intermediate design and analysis tasks.

  • Work with supervisors and project managers to complete assignments.
  • Attend internal or external training as assigned.
  • Problem-solve minor issues with internal clients.
  • Perform work on projects including drainage and roadway design.

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Municipal Project Engineer to join our Austin, Texas office.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or related engineering discipline, required.
  • Registration and designation as an Engineer in Training (EIT), required.
  • 2+ years of professional experience; EIT or PE may be required.
  • Proficiency with industry‑standard software (e.g., CADD, HCS, AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS, hydrologic/hydraulic models).
  • Ability to use spreadsheets, word processing, and standard office software.
Responsibilities
  1. Design & Analysis – Complete intermediate design and analysis tasks under the direction of a Professional Engineer; evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques and criteria; use judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications; report and review assignments as required.
  2. Compliance & Quality – Utilize Company QA/QC processes and procedures to review tasks and documents.
  3. Communication & Collaboration – Work with supervisor, project manager, mentors, and various internal personnel to complete assignments within discipline and other disciplines.
  4. Training, Learning & Advancement – Use formal education and practical experience in assignments; attend internal or external training, as assigned; assist with onboarding and entry‑level training of Graduate Engineer I and II.
  5. Client & Internal Satisfaction – Work with internal clients daily, problem‑solve minor issues and elevate concerns when needed; attend client meetings.
  6. Technical – Perform work on projects that include drainage area maps, roadway design and alignments, sanitary sewer design, force mains, waterline design, traffic control, project manual construction contracts & specs, permits & regulatory, cut‑fill volumes, quantity calculations, ADA regulations; utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D, OpenRoads, Microsoft Project, and Bluebeam as required.
Location & Working Hours
  • Full‑time position, generally 40 hours per week, with potential overtime.
  • Standard operating hours Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM–4:30 PM CST, with a 1‑hour unpaid lunch break.
  • Hybrid schedule possible after training period.
