Job summary

Metric Geo in Indianapolis seeks a Civil Engineer, PE with 5–9 years of site civil and land development experience to serve as a technical lead, own project delivery, and mentor junior engineers.

You will work with project managers and external consultants on a diverse portfolio including commercial, residential, mixed-use and infrastructure developments, with strong emphasis on quality, teamwork, mentorship, licensure support and ongoing professional growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required.
• Active PE license required.
• 5–9 years of site civil and land development experience.
• Strong knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Ability to lead technical design assignments and coordinate with teams.
• Familiarity with local jurisdictional requirements and approvals.
• Excellent communication, organization, and leadership abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

A well-established civil engineering firm is looking to add a Civil Engineer, PE with 5–10 years of experience in site civil and land development to its Indianapolis team. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced engineer looking to step into a technical leadership position, take ownership of project delivery, support and mentor junior engineers, and work alongside project managers on a variety of land development projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Act as a technical lead on a range of site civil and land development projects
• Oversee and contribute to site design activities, including grading, drainage, stormwater management, utilities, and roadway improvements
• Develop and oversee construction plans, engineering calculations, and supporting technical documentation
• Complete and review hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, as well as stormwater management designs
• Work closely with project managers, internal teams, and external consultants to coordinate project requirements and deliverables
• Assist with entitlement, permitting, and agency coordination throughout the project lifecycle
• Review technical work completed by junior engineers and provide guidance, feedback, and mentorship
• Attend client meetings and assist with addressing comments and requests from reviewing agencies
• Interpret and apply relevant local, state, and federal regulations, codes, and engineering standards
• Contribute to quality control processes and help maintain consistency across project deliverables

Education and/or Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
• Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required
• 5–9 years of experience within site civil and land development design
• Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D
• Proven ability to lead technical design assignments and coordinate with project teams
• Strong technical understanding of grading, drainage, utilities, stormwater management, and permitting
• Familiarity with local jurisdictional requirements and development approval processes
• Strong communication, organizational, and leadership abilities
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
