Job summary

Goodfellow Bros is seeking a Project Manager in Reno, NV to administer the technical and financial aspects of assigned heavy civil construction projects. The PM will work closely with owners, subcontractors, vendors, and agencies to ensure on-budget, on-schedule delivery while supervising salaried staff and reporting to the Project Executives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering.
  • Minimum five (5) years experience in heavy civil construction.
  • Strong knowledge of earthwork, grading, underground utility practices.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and OSHA certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Administers the technical and financial aspects of assigned projects.
  • Leads project teams including owners, subcontractors, and agencies to ensure on-budget, on-schedule completion.
  • Oversees contract administration, change orders, and claims processes.
  • Mentors engineers and coordinates resources for project performance and safety.

PositionSummary

TheProjectManager(PM)isresponsibleforadministeringthetechnicalandfinancialaspectsofassignedprojects.WorkscloselywithOwners,subcontractors,vendors,utilitycompaniesandlocalstateandfederalagenciestoensureworkisbeingcompletedonscheduleandonbudget.ThePMsupervisesothersalariedemployeesandreportstotheProjectExecutives.ThePMworksharmoniouslywithboththecraftandsalariedemployees.

  • ExpertlyperformsthedutiesofProjectEngineer
  • PerformsdutiesofEstimatorandSuperintendentasneeded.
  • Successfullymanagesanddirectsmultipleprojectssimultaneously,havinglargebudgetswithextensiveandcompleximplementationchallenges.
  • HastheexperienceandabilitytoleadtheconstructionclaimprocessandsettleclaimsinthebestinterestoftheCompany.
  • Exhibitsexpertcontractadministrationability.Analyzes,understandsandcommunicatestheCompany’scontractualresponsibilities.Authorsformalwrittencommunicationasnecessary,toprotecttheCompany’sinterestsandcontractualrights.
  • Proactivelyidentifiesnewbusinessleadand/orrepeatbusinessintheprivatemarketwhileconsistentlyrepresentingheCompanyinapositiveandprofessionalmanner.
  • Managescontractualchangeorderprocesswithcustomersandsubcontractors,includinginitialpricingofextrawork(withEstimatoroversightandwithindollaramountguidelines),utilizingtheestimatingstafftobidsignificantlumpsumextraworkitems.
  • Reviewsandapprovespurchaseordercommitmentsforjobspecificpurchases.
  • Confirmstheadherencetospecificationsandresolvesconflicts.
  • Identifiesequipmentneeds,createsforecastsandmanagesforresponsibleequipmentutilization.
  • Leadspre-constructionprocessforassignedprojects,verifiesbidtimeassumptions(includingexistinggroundverification),identifiesprojectqualityrequirements,createsJobSpecificQualityControlPlans,andensuresefficientandcompleteclose-out.
  • Overseestheimplementationofcomprehensivesafetyplans,hazardanalysis,safetymeetings,methodstatementsandsafeworkingpractices,asrequiredbytheCompanyandregulatoryagencies.Continuedmentoringoffieldstaffemployeesinareaofsafetypractices.
  • Performssafetyauditsandseesthatdeficienciesarecorrectedimmediately.
  • Creates,analyzes,updatesandcertifiesvariousprojectschedules,includingshorttermschedulesandprojectCPMschedule.
  • Responsiblefornegotiatingsubcontracts,reviewingandmakingrecommendationsforexecutiontotheContractsManager,ensuringsubcontractorscomplywithrequirements,administeringthesubcontractandpayingthesubcontractors.
  • DemonstratesintimateknowledgeoftheCompany’sstandardformcontracts.
  • Overseestheactivitiesfortheentireprojectteam(employees,subcontractors,vendors)toensurecompliancewiththecompanypolicies,safetyandqualitystandards.
  • Supervisesjobsiteoperations,supportsfieldstaffandcoordinatesresourcessuchascrews,materialsandequipment.SupervisesProjectEngineersandreviewstheirwrittenreportsonprojectperformanceusingqualitativeanalysisandotherprojectmanagementtechniques.
  • ActsasaCompanyliaisonforprojectswithowners,local,stateandfederalagencies,consultingengineers,utilitycompanies,subcontractorsandpublic.
  • Supervises,coordinatesandmanagesallphasesofassignedconstructionprojectsandmonitorsprojectstoensurethattheworkissafelycompletedonscheduleandwithinbudget,includingscheduling,constructionadministration,staffingandconstructioncompliance.
  • MentorsProjectEngineersandcoacheslessexperiencedemployeesonleadership,productivityandachievingcareerobjectives.
  • Mayberesponsibleforperiodicperformanceevaluationofdirectreports,includingquarterlyupdatesandproactiveidentificationoftrainingopportunities.
  • PerformsdetailedQualityManagementSystemauditsofassignedprojectsandothers.
  • Demonstratesexcellenceinresource-loadedschedulingandforecasting.
