Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Assist in project planning, value-added engineering means, and master schedule development.
  • Identify laws relating to environmental compliance and educate team on permits.
  • Resolve conflicts in designs to ensure compliance with codes and specs.
  • Verify quantity tracking data and measure productivity.
  • Interpret production goals from work packages for crews.
  • Track progress of major vendors and subcontractors for materials delivery.
  • Maintain the project schedule to aid leadership.
  • Generate and maintain logs and correspondence with client/owner.
  • Provide engineering input to daily job log.
  • Generate and maintain contract compliance, buyout logs, and procurement reports.
  • Identify, document, and estimate costs of extra work.
  • Establish and maintain a change order log.
  • Coordinate transmittals and approvals of submittals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Responsibility for the construction and project controls functions on heavy civil, marine, and/or movable bridges.

The Project Engineer works with the project team to provide technical support around quality controls, blueprint and contract compliance, scheduling, documentation, and engineering means and methods on-site. They must also ensure the project is constructed in a safe, ethical manner and compliant with all federal, state, and local laws. The wage range for this position is $1,300.00 to $2,100.00 per week. Compensation will be determined based on knowledge and experience.

Job Responsibilities
  • Assist in proper project planning, value-added engineering means, and methods, developing work packages and preparing production indicators/benchmarks, and developing the master schedule.
  • Identify any state or local laws relating to environmental compliance and educate our team to ensure understanding and compliance with permit requirements.
  • Research and resolve conflicts and errors in design/drawings for crafts installing material to ensure they comply with codes and specifications.
  • Verify quantity tracking data and measure productivity.
  • Interpret production goals from work packages to ensure daily communication of productivity goals is understood by crews executing the work.
  • Track progress of the major Vendors and Subcontractors to ensure that materials are manufactured and delivered.
  • Maintain the project schedule to aid project leadership.
  • Generate and maintain the various informational logs and correspondence with project client/owner.
  • Provide engineering input to the daily job log.
  • Generate and maintain contract compliance listings, buyout logs, and procurement reports.
  • Identify, document, and estimate costs of extra work of unanticipated activities.
  • Establish and maintain a project change order log.
  • Coordinate the transmittal and subsequent approval of all submittals to the Owner/Engineer.
  • Perform other duties as assigned/required.
Qualifications/Requirements
  • Requires a four-year degree in engineering or construction management degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or experience in heavy infrastructure construction.
  • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction (technology, equipment, methods): craft agreements, jurisdiction, negotiations, engineering, estimating, schedules, and safety required.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills are essential.
  • Must be willing to travel.
