Job summary

Bayer AG in Myerstown, PA, USA is seeking a capital projects professional to plan, develop, approve, and execute infrastructure initiatives from concept to startup and turnover. You’ll lead cross-functional teams and manage budgets to deliver safe, compliant, and energy-efficient solutions at the site.

Qualifications

  • Engineering and/or capital project experience.
  • Experience in project management and basic knowledge of PLCs, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, electronics, HVAC, fabrication, and/or industrial maintenance systems.
  • Organizational skills and a systematic problem-solving approach.
  • Strong written and verbal communication across all levels.
  • Experience budgeting and forecasting project costs.
  • Excellent leadership, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Willingness to work extra or irregular hours as needed.
  • Preferred: government-regulated industry; PMP coursework; commissioning/validation/startup experience.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, approve, execute, and close out capital and infrastructure projects for the Myerstown site from concept through startup and project turnover.
  • Manage projects up to $1.0MM, ensuring delivery against scope, budget, schedule, safety, quality, and compliance.
  • Lead cross-functional teams using DSO principles and VACC leadership behaviors as visionary, architect, catalyst, and coach.
  • Develop scope, cost estimates, schedules, resource plans, and risk assessments for capital goals.
  • Coordinate design, procurement, installation, commissioning, startup, validation support, and handover activities.
  • Prepare equipment specs, bid packages, and contractor scopes; support supplier selection through evaluations.
  • Partner with Reliability Engineers, Operations, Quality, Validation, Safety, Procurement, and Site Leadership for safe, compliant solutions.
  • Support commissioning, qualification, and validation activities including IQ/OQ where required.
  • Manage contractors and vendors to ensure safe, compliant execution of work.
  • Maintain project documentation, drawings, spare parts data, preventive maintenance requirements, and turnover packages.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Plan, develop, approve, execute, and close out capital and infrastructure projects for the Myerstown site from concept through startup and project turnover.

Manage assigned projects, typically up to $1.0MM, ensuring delivery against approved scope, budget, schedule, safety, quality, and compliance requirements.

Lead cross-functional project teams by applying Dynamic Shared Ownership (DSO) principles and VACC leadership behaviors as a visionary, architect, catalyst, and coach.

Develop project scope, cost estimates, schedules, resource plans, business justifications, and risk assessments to support capital program goals.

Coordinate design, procurement, installation, commissioning, startup, validation support, and handover activities for equipment and system projects.

Prepare equipment specifications, bid packages, and contractor scopes of work, and support supplierselectionthrough technical and commercial evaluations.

Partner with Reliability Engineers, Technical Supervisors, Operations, Maintenance, Quality, Validation, Safety, Procurement, and Site Leadership to deliver safe, compliant, reliable, and energy-efficient solutions.

Support commissioning, qualification, and validation activities, including IQ/OQ protocol development and execution, asrequiredfor new equipment and systems.

Manage contractors, engineering service providers, and equipment vendors to ensure safe and compliant execution of project work.

Maintain project documentation, engineering drawings, spare parts information, preventive maintenance requirements, and turnover packagesin accordance withsite and regulatory requirements.

Communicate project status, risks, decisions, and resource needs to stakeholders throughout all phases of the project lifecycle.

Provide technical support for equipment evaluation, process improvements, efficiency gains, cost savings initiatives, capital budget planning, spending forecasts, and long-range planning activities.

WHO YOU ARE

Bayer seeks an incumbent whopossessesthe following:

Required Qualifications:

Engineering and/or capital project experience

Experience in project management and basic knowledge of PLCs, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, electronics, HVAC, fabrication, and/or industrial maintenance systems.

Demonstrated organizational skills and a systematic approach to problem definition and solution development.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.

Knowledge of working within budgetary constraints and managing project costs and forecasts.

Excellent leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Demonstrated ability to resolve problems and conflict in a positive manner using effective interpersonal skills.

Willingness to work extra or irregular hours as needed to support project execution.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in a government-regulated industry; pharmaceutical or consumer care industry experience preferred.

Formal training in project management, such as coursework completed toward PMP certification.

Experience supporting commissioning, qualification, validation, and startup activities for new equipment and systems.

Employees can expect to be paid a salary between$ 68,400.00 - $102,600.00 .Additionalcompensation may include a bonus or incentive compensation (if relevant).Additionalbenefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc. This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant's location, market data/ranges, an applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
