Job summary

Milwaukee Tool is seeking an engineer to develop and implement sustainable, robust manufacturing processes for power tool battery products, reporting to Senior Manager, Global Advanced Manufacturing. You will work in a team to drive cost, quality and throughput improvements, using DOE, DFMEA/PFMEA, and CAD tools.

Responsibilities include leading projects, evaluating equipment suppliers, and collaborating with design engineers to optimize manufacturability.

Qualifications

  • B.S. Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering.
  • Minimum 2 years related experience.
  • Advanced computer knowledge; MS Office and Solidworks/AutoCAD/NX.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement sustainable, robust and reliable complex manufacturing processes.
  • Lead manufacturing projects and coordinate engineering and cross-functional teams.
  • Collaborate with New Product Development to optimize manufacturability.
  • Travel domestically and internationally to evaluate machines and concepts (≈20%).

Job Description:Under the direction of and reporting to Senior Manager, Global Advanced Manufacturing, develop and implement sustainable, robust and reliable complex manufacturing processes to achieve aggressive cost, quality and throughput goals and objectives.This position works in a team environment and uses engineering expertise and abilities to contribute to the development and manufacturing of power tool electric battery products.Specific duties include:Manufacturing Process Development:Preferred knowledge and experience in production manufacturing assembly processesDevelop innovative solutions; implement sustainable, robust and reliable complex manufacturing processesStrong analytical skills, knowledge, and experience in process evaluation toolsBasic knowledge of Design of Experiments (DOE), Finite Element Analysis (FEA), PFMEA, DFMEA, statistical data analysis, risk analysis, flow layout and other related engineering toolsWork with New Product Development design engineers to evaluate and advise product design for optimized manufacturabilityWork with and lead development with equipment suppliers to deliver custom processing solutions to achieve goals and objectivesResearch and evaluate new technologies and breakthrough processes to accelerate competitive manufacturing advantageUtilize prototyping methods to develop and prepare engineering samples for evaluation and testingPerform a variety of calculation and software aided analyses to prove process reliability, capability and sustainabilityProvide multiple what-if scenarios to find best total cost solution with financial impacts with emphasis on delivery timelinesStrong emphasis on fixture and gaging design, utilizing 3D CAD softwareProject Management Skills:Lead manufacturing projects, providing direction, guidance and engineering expertise to team membersFacilitate project flow involving regular contact with engineering, manufacturing and other cross functional teams when necessaryExcellent verbal and written communication to make formal presentations regarding project status to team and managementProvide input with cross functional teams of baseline staffing and skillset required as related to the operational complexity of the processExcellent interpersonal skills to work in a team environment and challenge status quo with respect to drive the best solutions for the businessLead operations milestone delivery through the VIGOR processOther Requirements:Ability to travel domestically and internationally for machine and/or concept evaluationsEstimated yearly travel: 20%Most trips will be 1-2 week with possibilities of weekend travelAbility to learn new technical materialAbility to be interactive "hands on" with each upcoming engineering projectEducation and Experience Requirements:B.S.
