Project Engineer II
Milwaukee Tool offers an opportunity to innovate without boundaries as a Project Engineer II. You will utilize engineering skills and project management abilities to execute design changes, derivative tool releases, and general maintenance of existing products.
Responsibilities
- Lead small to medium scale engineering projects and provide engineering support on mid-level complexity projects under the supervision of a Project Leader.
- Work cross‑functionally and globally with Quality & Reliability Engineering, Purchasing, Finance, Service & Support, Marketing, and other departments.
- Evaluate product designs regarding selection, cost, and resolution of problems related to materials, heat treatment, and finishes.
- Assist in developing comprehensive project plans and drive project execution to meet cost, schedule, and performance targets.
- Monitor and track project progress; provide monthly project status updates to senior management and the project team.
- Regularly visit manufacturing cells and suppliers to maintain communication and provide troubleshooting analysis.
- Request and perform tests as per established procedures.
- Interpret data and make design recommendations, including use of simulation tools, stress analysis, material and heat treatment selection, tolerance stack, lubricant properties, statics/dynamics, noise and vibration analysis.
- Interact with suppliers to develop part and product specifications that meet performance requirements while aligning with process capabilities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or educational equivalent required; preferred Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum four years of relevant work experience.
- Ability to travel internationally and domestically up to 15% of the time.
- Experience managing multiple simultaneous projects.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of engineering materials used in hand tools.
- Experience with manufacturing processes such as grinding, stamping, heat treatment, functional coatings, and machining.
- Proficiency in CAD; experience with Unigraphics or Pro‑E preferred.
- Understanding of DFMA and cost drivers associated with materials, labor, and overhead.
- Self‑starter with strong problem‑solving skills.
- PMP or CAPM certification is a plus.
