Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking a project engineer to support the project team on a range of smaller and larger complex projects. The role acts as a lead technical resource on smaller projects, coordinating with management and stakeholders to keep projects on schedule and within budget.

You will interpret plans and specifications, assemble submittals, procure equipment and services, and assist in selecting subcontractors. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent education
  • Minimum 3 years' experience
  • In-depth knowledge of HVAC/plumbing systems and general operations
  • Ability to read mechanical and plumbing plans
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong computer skills, including CADD and Microsoft Office (Excel)

Position Details

  • Manages change orders. Ensures they are completed accurately and tracked as required. Expedites material as needed. Estimates the impact of project changes.

  • Procures equipment and materials and services; and participates in selection and hiring of subcontractors.
  • Analyzes and resolves more complex questions and problems as needed.

  • In-depth knowledge of applicable systems design, such as HVAC, plumbing, etc., as well as general understanding of system operations.
  • Ability to read mechanical and plumbing plans.

  • Strong computer skills, including CADD and Microsoft Office, such as Excel
