Job summary

Southland Industries seeks a Project Engineer to support the project team on complex HVAC/plumbing projects in Pflugerville, TX. You will serve as a lead technical resource on smaller projects and collaborate with management to keep timelines and budgets on track.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Engineering, 3+ years’ experience, and proficiency with CAD and Office tools. Strong communication and plans-reading skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent education/training/experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience.
  • Knowledge of HVAC/plumbing systems and general operations.
  • Ability to read mechanical and plumbing plans.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with CAD and Microsoft Excel.

  • Expedites materials as needed and estimates impact of project changes.

  • Analyzes and resolves complex questions and problems as needed.

Position Summary

This position is responsible for supporting the project team on several smaller or larger complex projects. Serves as a lead technical resource on smaller projects.

Position Details
  • Collaborates with management and stakeholders and keeps them informed on all issues affecting project timeline and budget.
  • Manages change orders. Ensures they are completed accurately and tracked as required.

  • Procures equipment and materials and services; and participates in selection and hiring of subcontractors.

  • In-depth knowledge of applicable systems design, such as HVAC, plumbing, etc., as well as general understanding of system operations.
  • Ability to read mechanical and plumbing plans.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong computer skills, including CADD and Microsoft Office, such as Excel
