Eastern Shipbuilding Group, Inc. seeks a Project Engineer to coordinate matrixed engineering support across disciplines and subcontractors. You will develop schedules, review changes, estimate effort and duration, and ensure tasks appear in the integrated schedule.
You will generate high-level estimates, drive detailed planning, and produce regular status reports to keep projects on time and on budget. A Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering or Naval Architecture is required.

Project engineers are responsible for coordinating "matrixed" support among the various Engineering disciplines, as well as subcontractors and other assigned personnel. This person will develop project schedules, review proposed changes, develop technical solutions, and correctly estimate the time and effort level (hours and material) associated with new projects and changes. The Project Engineer will generate high level estimates of effort and project duration and develop progressively higher levels of detail prior authorization and execution. After projects are authorized for implementation, the Project Engineer will be responsible for ensuring tasks are resident in the Engineering Department's integrated schedule, regularly produce reports to status implementation, and drive projects to successful completion. Project Engineers define the resources required and develop an execution plan for any given requirement assigned to a specific project(s) and the time constraints required to execute. Project Engineers are required to provide regular status on their assigned projects and the specific actions or commitments of the workforce required to execute them.
A Project Engineer 2 will have no supervisory requirements but will have project lead requirements which require indirectly supervising assigned (matrixed) engineering resources responsible for project completion. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance of work accomplished to “home room” supervisor; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
This position will report to the Manager of Project Engineering
The Project Engineer 3 must have as a minimum a B.S. in any Mechanical Engineering or Naval Architecture discipline from an ABET accredited institution (advanced degree preferred) and at least 3-6 years of directly applicable Project Engineering or Project Management experience.

This position is considered both office and field work which is characterized as follows. Assigned office space for daily work but is anticipated to conduct ship visits when needed/required. Occasional exposure to airborne dust in the workplace. When in the field, working in confined spaces may occur as well as working in high areas.
