Job summary

Wessler Engineering is seeking a Project Engineer II to advance drinking water infrastructure projects across our region. You will lead technical delivery, coordinate with Project Managers, and build strong client relationships to ensure timely, on-budget outcomes.

You will develop designs, supervise engineers and drafters, review QA/QC, and support proposals and regulatory processes. A Civil/Environmental degree and 4+ years of experience are required; PE license is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or related Engineering from an accredited four-year institution.
  • Minimum 4 years of professional engineering experience.
  • Experience with drinking water engineering, including water treatment, distribution, pumping, storage, or related infrastructure, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate engineering activities for drinking water planning, design, and infrastructure improvement projects.
  • Perform engineering studies and develop designs, plans, specifications, reports, and construction documents.
  • Support the design of water treatment facilities, water distribution systems, pump stations, storage facilities, and related infrastructure.
  • Establish project schedules, coordinate resources, and monitor project progress, budgets, and profitability.
  • Coordinate the work of engineers, technicians, drafters, and other project team members.
  • Work directly with municipal clients to understand their needs, communicate project progress, and support successful project delivery.
  • Assist with proposals, scopes of work, fee estimates, man-hour budgets, and contracts.
  • Coordinate regulatory approvals, permits, design reviews, client meetings, presentations, bidding, and construction-related activities.
  • Review project work for technical quality, completeness, and compliance with established QA/QC procedures.
  • Identify project challenges and work collaboratively with Project Managers and team members to develop effective solutions.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients and contribute to business development efforts.
  • Represent Wessler Engineering professionally and help build lasting relationships with the communities we serve.

About the Role

Wessler Engineering is seeking a Project Engineer II to join our team and help deliver innovative, reliable drinking water infrastructure solutions for communities throughout our region.

This role is designed for an experienced engineer who is ready to take on greater responsibility for the technical delivery and coordination of projects while building strong relationships with clients and project teams. You’ll work alongside Project Managers and other technical professionals to plan, design, and deliver drinking water projects that meet the needs of the communities we serve.

What You’ll Do

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or related Engineering from an accredited four-year institution.
  • Minimum 4 years of professional engineering experience.
  • Experience with drinking water engineering, including water treatment, distribution, pumping, storage, or related infrastructure, preferred.
  • Strong technical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while delivering projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with clients, project teams, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or ability to obtain licensure preferred.
