Job summary

One Shot Automation LLC in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Project Engineer – Ignition/SCADA Programmer to design, develop, and deploy Ignition/SCADA solutions for industrial automation projects.

You will configure HMI screens, historians, alarms, and reporting, integrate PLCs and databases, perform on-site commissioning, and support clients with tailored automation systems. A bachelor’s degree and 3+ years with Ignition are required, plus strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on Ignition SCADA experience.
• Proficiency in PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar).
• Experience with OPC-UA, Modbus TCP, and EtherNet/IP.
• Ignition Core Certification preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field preferred.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently.
• Excellent communication and client-focused mindset.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy Ignition/SCADA applications for industrial projects.
• Program and configure HMI screens, historians, alarming, and reporting in Ignition.
• Collaborate with clients and internal teams to define project requirements.
• Integrate SCADA with PLCs, databases, and third-party devices using OPC-UA, Modbus, and other protocols.
• Perform system commissioning, on-site startup, and troubleshooting.
• Develop and maintain project documentation including specs and diagrams.
• Provide ongoing technical support and improvements for client installations.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and deploy Ignition/SCADA applications for industrial automation projects


• Program and configure HMI screens, historian, alarming, and reporting modules within the Ignition platform


• Collaborate with clients and internal teams to define project requirements and deliver tailored automation solutions


• Integrate SCADA systems with PLCs, databases, and third‑party devices using OPC‑UA, Modbus, and other communication protocols


• Perform system commissioning, on‑site startup, and troubleshooting of SCADA and control systems


• Develop and maintain project documentation including functional specs, network diagrams, and I/O lists


• Provide ongoing technical support and system improvements for existing client installations

Requirements:

• 3+ years of hands‑on experience with Inductive Automation's Ignition SCADA platform


• Proficiency in PLC programming (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, or similar) is a strong plus


• Experience with industrial communication protocols such as OPC‑UA, Modbus TCP, and EtherNet/IP


• Ignition Core Certification (or ability to obtain) preferred


• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field preferred


• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and manage multiple projects


• Excellent communication skills and a client‑focused mindset


• Willingness to travel to client sites for commissioning and support as needed
