Job summary

McKinstry is seeking a Project Engineer - New Construction in Seattle to join our growing New Construction Mechanical team. You will support RFPs, coordinate procurement, and track multiple projects from design through construction, ensuring alignment with contract documents and client requirements.

You will review drawings, specs, and estimates while assisting with scheduling and developing subcontractor scopes.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Construction Management, Mechanical Eng, Electrical Eng or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specs, contracts, proposals, estimates preferred.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Suite; working knowledge of Salesforce, ViewPoint, and Accubid preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support the RFP and procurement process.
  • Track current and future projects; review contracts, drawings and specs.
  • Assist with scheduling and develop scope of work with subcontractors.
  • Prepare monthly financial reporting; maintain command of project documentation.

The Opportunity with McKinstry

McKinstry is looking to add a Project Engineer - New Construction to our growing New Construction Mechanical team in Seattle. Project Coordination

As a Project Engineer, you will support the Request for Proposal (RFP) and procurement process along with tracking current and future jobs, reviewing contracts, drawings, and specifications. You will also assist with scheduling, developing the scope of work with subcontractors, and preparing monthly financial reporting. Strong sense of ownership and technical soundness are required.

Communication

You will communicate with general contractors, architects, engineers, and owners, and interact with leaders within the industry. You will work closely with our project management team to solve problems and gain hands‑on experience in the field.

Documentation

This role will create and respond to requests for information (RFI). You will develop, process, and track equipment, materials, and informational submittals, process change orders, create billing breakdowns, and conduct estimates.

What You Need to Succeed at McKinstry
  • BA/BS degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering or comparable degree preferred, or equivalent work experience.
  • Knowledge of construction concepts preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specs, contracts, proposals, estimates preferred.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Suite required, working knowledge of Salesforce, ViewPoint, and Accubid preferred.

Pay Range

The pay range for this position is $29.55 - $48.89 per hour; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. This is a non‑exempt role and will be paid hourly. A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, depending on the position offered. Base pay information is based on market location.
