Job summary

McKinstry is seeking a Project Engineer - New Construction to join our Seattle team. You will support RFP and procurement, track current and future projects, review contracts and drawings, and assist in scheduling and scope development with subcontractors.

You will communicate with general contractors, architects, engineers, and owners, partnering with our project management team to solve problems and gain hands-on field experience. A strong ownership mindset is essential.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or comparable degree preferred, or equivalent work experience.
  • Knowledge of construction concepts preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specs, contracts, proposals, estimates preferred.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Suite; working knowledge of Salesforce, ViewPoint and Accubid preferred.

McKinstry is looking to add a Project Engineer - New Construction to our growing New Construction Mechanical team in Seattle. Project Coordination

As a Project Engineer, you will support the Request for Proposal (RFP) and procurement process along with tracking current and future jobs, reviewing contracts, drawings, and specifications. You will also be assisting with scheduling, assisting in the development of the scope of work with subcontractors, and assisting in the preparation of monthly financial reporting. To be successful in this position, you must have a strong sense of ownership and be technically sound.

Communication

As a Project Engineer, you will be expected to communicate with general contractors, architects, engineers, and owners. You must possess the ability and confidence to interact with leaders within the industry. You will work closely with our project management team to solve problems and will gain hands‑on experience in the field.

Documentation

This role will be tasked with creating and responding to requests for information (RFI). You will develop, process, and track equipment, materials, and informational submittals, as well as process change orders, create billing breakdowns, and conduct estimates.

What You Need to Succeed at McKinstry
  • BA/BS degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering or comparable degree preferred, or equivalent work experience.
  • Knowledge of construction concepts preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specs, contracts, proposals, estimates preferred.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Suite required, working knowledge of Salesforce, ViewPoint and Accubid preferred.

The pay range for this position is $29.55 - $48.89 per hour; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This is a non‑exempt role and will be paid hourly. A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, depending on the position offered. Base pay information is based on market location.
