Job summary

Veregy is a decarbonization leader seeking a Project Engineer I to assist the Project Leader in identifying Energy Conservation Measures and Facility Improvement Measures for Guaranteed Energy Savings Projects.

You will build strong relationships with Owners, Architects, Engineers and Subcontractors, analyze energy use and budgets, develop costs and energy savings projections, and support bids, feasibility analyses, and final proposals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Architectural Engineering or equivalent.
  • EIT/PE path preferred, willingness to pursue licensure.
  • Ability to read and interpret financial reports and construct pro formas.

Responsibilities

  • Builds and maintains relationships with Owners, Architects, Engineers, and subcontractors.
  • Analyzes facility energy data, budgets, and conditions to set project goals.
  • Develops project costs, energy savings projections, and implementation schedules.
  • Leads pre-bid meetings, evaluates bids, and coordinates scope revisions.
  • Supports feasibility studies, proposals, and final turnover.

Summary of Position Functions

The Project Engineer I supports the designated Project Leader in the identification and development of Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs) and Facility Improvement Measures (FIMs) that will be the basis of Guaranteed Energy Savings Projects.

Essential Position Functions
  • Builds and maintains strong working relationships with Owners, Architects, Engineers, Project Teams, Subcontractors, and other key stakeholders throughout project development.
  • Communicates regularly with project stakeholders regarding development progress, deliverables, open and closed tasks, and project issues.
  • Analyzes facility utility consumption, capital and operating budgets, existing conditions, and energy performance to establish preliminary project goals and energy savings benchmarks.
  • Conducts facility walk-throughs to identify and verify preliminary project scope, develop facility assessments, and identify potential improvement measures and energy conservation opportunities.
  • Develops preliminary project costs, energy savings projections, utility rebate and incentive opportunities, and financial pro formas to support feasibility and customer decision-making.
  • Develops and maintains project development timelines, budgets, control indexes, scopes of work, specifications, and preliminary implementation schedules.
  • Leads subcontractor pre-bid meetings and facility walk-throughs, solicit and evaluate bids for completeness, finalize project costs, assess project risks, and coordinate rebidding or scope revisions as needed.
  • Develop detailed MEP scopes of work and engage third-party consultants as needed to support project design, technical review, and implementation planning.
  • Supports the development and presentation of feasibility, preliminary analysis, and final proposal documents, including project business cases, customer presentations, and project interviews.
  • Finalizes project scope and estimates, validate energy savings guarantees and Measurement & Verification plans, and participate in final project turnover meetings with Development and Operations teams.

Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Architectural Engineering, or related field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT)/Professional Engineering (PE) path preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of Veregy's services and processes is required which can be obtained through intellect, technical inclination, and dedication to gain such knowledge.
  • Knowledge (Intermediate to advanced) of various operating systems, software products (e.g. MS Office, etc.), is required.
  • Computer software proficiency including Microsoft Project, Viewpoint, RS Means, Trimble Estimating and / or other job-related hardware and software applications that may be required.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently manage time / workload.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports, business, professional, and technical documents.
  • Ability to effectively respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers and staff.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to write presentations, articles, routine reports, proposals, and correspondence.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts and percentages.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and tactfully negotiate priority with end users.
  • Ability to work under deadline pressure and extra hours if needed.
