Job summary

Software Placement Group seeks a Senior Project Engineer in Naples, FL to support FDOT roadway and bridge work. Ideal candidates have 5+ years in heavy civil projects and seek greater ownership with a clear path to Project Manager.

You will manage RFIs, submittals, subcontractors, scheduling, cost tracking, and coordination with the Engineer of Record and owner representatives on FDOT work. Relocation is encouraged for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• FDOT project experience is preferred.
• B.S. in Civil Engineering or Construction Management required.

Location: Naples, FL (Southwest Florida) | Schedule: Full-time, on-site

Overview

An established heavy civil highway and bridge contractor with projects across Florida is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to support FDOT roadway and bridge work in the Naples area. This role suits a Senior Project Engineer, or a strong Project Engineer ready to step up, with 5+ years on heavy civil jobs who wants more ownership and a clear path to Project Manager. The position oversees the technical and commercial side of the job, from RFIs and submittals to subcontractors, quantities and cost, much of it FDOT work. Southwest Florida locals are welcome, as are candidates ready to relocate.

What you'll do

• Run RFIs, submittals and technical coordination with the owner, Engineer of Record and field team
• Build and update the project schedule in Primavera P6
• Track quantities and cost against bid, and prepare monthly forecasts
• Manage subcontractors, their contracts and change orders
• Review plans, specifications and shop drawings for contract and FDOT conformance
• Support monthly pay estimates, billing and cash flow
• Coordinate survey, quality control and quality assurance inspections
• Work with the superintendent to spot conflicts and delays before they hit the field
• Lead project meetings with foremen, subcontractors and owner representatives
• Keep NPDES, the SWPPP and the safety program on track

Required qualifications

• 5+ years of project engineering on heavy civil, highway or bridge work for a contractor
• FDOT project experience
• B.S. in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
• Strong with RFIs, subcontractor management, change orders, quantities and cost tracking
• Primavera P6 and Excel
• Based in Southwest Florida or ready to relocate to the Naples area

Preferred qualifications

• Florida PE license is a plus
• HCSS HeavyJob experience is a plus
• OSHA 30 is a plus
