Job summary

Abbott Construction seeks a Project Engineer to support the Project Manager and Superintendent across all phases of a project in Seattle. This role will manage submittals, RFIs, change orders and budgeting in Viewpoint while contributing to safety and schedule adherence.

Qualified candidates have a 4-year construction degree, 1+ year project engineering experience, and a focus on process discipline; healthcare construction experience is a plus. Drug testing is required.

Qualifications

• Must pass a drug test.
• 4-year degree in a construction-related major.
• Motivated for a long-term career in construction.
• 1+ years of project engineering experience.
• Preferred healthcare construction experience and managing multiple projects.
• Focus on following processes and taking ownership, and handling difficult conversations.

Responsibilities

• Manage the submittal process.
• Manage the RFI process.
• Manage the change order proposal process.
• Provide research, backup support and data entry as required by the PM and Supt.
• Complete budget revisions in Viewpoint as required.
• Assist to maintain safety in alignment with Abbott's core values.
• Combine knowledge of engineering and construction methods with people management.
• Support planning, scheduling and coordinating projects to meet deadlines.
• Assist estimating by soliciting subcontractors and distributing plans.
• Be the main contact for subcontractors as requested by the PM.
• Act as PM when the PM is unavailable, if needed.

The Project Engineer (PE) shall support the Project Manager (PM), and Superintendent (Supt) as required for them to meet their goals through all phases of a project.

Primary Duties

• Responsible for managing the submittal process
• Responsible for managing the RFI process
• Responsible for managing the change order proposal process
• Provide research, backup support, legwork, data entry etc. as requested by the PM and Supt
• Complete budget revisions and modifications in Viewpoint as required throughout the job
• Assist to maintain a high level of safety in alignment with Abbott's core values
• Ability to combine knowledge of engineering methods, construction methods and human management skills
• Provide support for planning, scheduling and coordinating projects to meet deadlines
• Offer support to the estimating department by soliciting subcontractors for projects as well as managing and distributing plans
• Be the main point of contact for subcontractors as requested by the Project Manager
• If needed, act as a Project Manager when a Project Manager is unavailable

The full salary range for this position is $78,000 to $105,000. This position is eligible for a target bonus

Note

Sick leave accrues at one (1) hour for every 30 hours worked. Accrual for sick leave is capped at 240 hours. At the end of each calendar year, you will be allowed to carry over accrued and unused sick leave up to 240 hours. You will not begin accruing sick leave until you drop below the accrual cap.
