Job summary

Commercial Contracting Corporation in Gas City, IN seeks a Project Engineer to assist the project team with scheduling, estimating, document control, and management of self-perform and subcontractor work in industrial and heavy commercial markets.

The role may involve one large project or several smaller projects, travel, and collaboration with clients, project executives, site safety professionals, and trade subs. A bachelor’s degree in a related field and 1–3 years of experience are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field.
  • 1–3 years of related experience with a General Contracting/Construction Management organization, or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office; FTP sites and document control programs.
  • Knowledge of Sage 300, Procore, or Prologis preferred.
  • Strong communication, planning, organizational, and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate commitment to safety culture and follow the CCC safety manual.
  • Ensure compliance with estimating, purchasing, and project control SOPs.
  • Collaborate with client project management, CCC leaders, and subcontractors to achieve project success.
  • Maintain and update document controls, submittals, RFIs, punch lists, and closeout materials.
  • Support project scheduling using Microsoft Project or Primavera.
  • Assist with project buyout and startup activities.
  • Prepare letters of intent, purchase orders, and master sub-agreements.
  • Manage the submittal process and maintain submittal logs.
  • Verify shop drawings and communicate submittal status.
  • Contribute to estimating efforts, including budgets and change orders.
  • Coordinate self-perform and subcontractor scopes with field supervision.
  • Support job cost tracking and project closeout.
  • Maintain positive relationships with customers and travel as needed.

JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION: PROJECTENGINEER

LOCATION: Gas City, IN

OBJECTIVE

The function of this position is toassistthe project team with scheduling, project buyout, estimating, documentcontroland management of self-performteamsand subcontractorsin theIndustrial and Heavy Commercial Markets. This could entail one large project at a time or severalsmalltomedium sizeprojects at once. Project delivery methods may include Self-Perform, General Contracting or Construction Management. Project sizes ranging from $25,000 to $10,000,000 USD and may include some travel. Location varies from office to part-time office/jobsite tofull timejobsite.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Demonstrate commitment to CCC's people-based safety culture and adhere to the requirements outlined in the CCC corporate safety manual.
  • Ensure compliance with all CCC standard operating procedures (ISO) for estimating,purchasing, and project control.
  • Collaborate with the client’s project management team, CCC Project Executive,SeniorProject Manager(s), ProjectManager(s), Site Safety Professional(s), trade subcontractors, local authorities, and designers/engineers to achieve project success.
  • Maintain and update document controls as needed, including pre-construction documents, submittals, RFIs/DCRs, punch lists, and closeout materials.
  • Support project scheduling using Microsoft Project or Primavera.
  • Assistwith project buyout and startup activities.
  • Prepare letters of intent, purchase orders, and master sub-agreements as required.
  • Manage the project submittal process, including drafting submittal logs for PM review, processing vendorand subcontractor submittals, andmaintainingthe log throughout the project.
  • Verify shop drawings and communicate submittal status to the Project Manager and team.
  • Contribute to estimating efforts, including budgets, bulletins, and change request/field order quotations.
  • Assistwith coordinating self-perform and subcontractor scopes with field supervision.
  • Support job cost tracking and management.
  • Participate in project closeout activities.
  • Maintain positive and open relationships with customers.
  • Travel may be required.
CORE COMPETENCIES
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management,engineering, ora relatedfield.
  • 1-3years related experienceand/or internship(s) with a General Contracting/Construction Management organization,or an equivalent combination of education,trainingand/or experience.
  • Knowledge/experience with Microsoft Office suite, FTPsitesand document control programs.
  • Knowledge ofSage 300, Procore,orPrologis preferred.
  • Strong communication, planning, organizational, andteamworkskills.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Fast-paced, busy, and occasionally noisy work environment.
  • May involve managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • May require outdoorwork withexposure to various weather conditions.
  • Occasional work in high or precarious places, near fumes or airborne particles, or handling toxic chemicals.
  • Riskof electrical shock and vibration may occur in certain situations.
  • Frequent interruptions to address team members’ needs and vendor requests.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Frequent travel by motor vehicle may berequired.
  • Extended hours on construction sites maynecessitatephysical stamina for navigating the premises.
  • Effective and professional communication with supervisors, employees, and others, both individually and in a team setting, is essential.
  • Strict adherence to safety protocols and the ability to follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment guidelines, and company policies, isrequiredto perform work safely and effectively.
