  • Conduct safety orientations for employees, visitors, and subcontractors.
  • Support site safety activities for six modular buildings within an electrical switchyard environment.
  • Monitor safety performance for self-perform operations including steel erection, concrete work, and excavation.
  • Facilitate pre-task planning, JHAs, and Safe Work Planning.
  • Perform routine safety inspections, audits, and follow-up on corrective actions.
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, injuries, and safety concerns.
  • Deliver toolbox talks and safety trainings.
  • Maintain qualification, training, and compliance records.
  • Assist leadership with safety reporting and trend analysis.
  • Monitor subcontractor safety performance and client safety meetings.
  • Participate in safety walks and field coordination.
  • Support project startup, turnover, and closeout activities.
  • Build positive relationships with customers, employees, subcontractors, and management.
  • Provide leadership reinforcing CCC's safety-first culture.

Job Description

TITLE: Project Safety Specialist II

LOCATION: Cayuga, Indiana

Job Summary

The function of this position is to independently support and coordinate project safety execution activities with minimal oversight on industrial, infrastructure, power, and heavy commercial construction projects.

The Project Safety Specialist II serves as a key partner to project teams, operations leadership, customers, subcontractors, and craft personnel to promote a strong safety culture, ensure regulatory compliance, and support safe project execution. This role is assigned to a long-term project in Cayuga, Indiana and will provide dedicated site safety coverage throughout the duration of the project.

The successful candidate will support construction activities associated with the installation of six modular buildings at an electrical switchyard, including CCC self-perform work scopes involving steel erection, concrete, excavation and related construction activities. This position is expected to support the project from startup through completion while assisting the Indiana Regional Office with future growth opportunities throughout the state.

This role is ideal for a construction safety professional who enjoys being embedded within the field, partnering closely with project teams, identifying hazards before incidents occur and helping create a world-class safety culture on site.

Key Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate commitment to CCC's people-based safety culture and adhere to all requirements outlined in the CCC Corporate Safety Manual.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, customer safety requirements, and CCC safety policies and procedures.
  • Partner with Project Executives, Project Managers, Superintendents, craft professionals, subcontractors, and customer representatives to promote safe work practices and project success.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain project-specific safety plans.
  • Conduct employee, visitor, and subcontractor safety orientations.
  • Support all site safety activities associated with construction of six modular buildings within an electrical switchyard environment.
  • Monitor safety performance for CCC self-perform operations involving steel erection, concrete work, excavation activities, and related construction scopes.
  • Facilitate pre-task planning meetings, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and Safe Work Planning activities.
  • Perform routine safety inspections, audits, compliance assessments, and corrective action follow-up.
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, injuries, property damage events, and safety concerns.
  • Deliver toolbox talks, safety meetings, and specialized safety training.
  • Maintain employee qualification records, certifications, training records, and compliance documentation.
  • Assist project leadership with safety reporting, trend analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor subcontractor safety performance and verify compliance with site requirements.
  • Participate in weekly safety walks, observations, and client safety meetings.
  • Partner with field leadership to identify hazards and develop proactive risk mitigation strategies.
  • Support project startup, turnover, and closeout activities as required.
  • Build positive working relationships with customers, employees, subcontractors, and project leadership.
  • Provide leadership and coaching that reinforces CCC's safety-first culture.
Qualifications
  • OSHA 30 Certification required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of construction safety experience.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety best practices.
  • Experience supporting active construction projects in field environments.
  • Experience conducting safety inspections, audits, incident investigations, and safety training.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and provide effective field leadership.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with project teams, subcontractors, and customers.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and related Microsoft Office applications.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting electrical, utility, power, infrastructure, industrial, or heavy commercial construction projects.
  • Knowledge of electrical construction safety requirements.
  • Experience working for a General Contractor (GC).
  • Experience with HammerTech safety management software.
  • Graduate Safety Practitioner (GSP), STS-C, CHST, or similar professional certifications.
  • First Aid / CPR Certification.
  • Experience leading contractor safety programs and customer-facing safety initiatives.
PROJECT ASSIGNMENT

This position will be assigned to a major construction project in Cayuga, Indiana supporting a General Contracting project involving the construction of six modular buildings within an electrical switchyard. The project includes multiple construction disciplines, including structural steel, concrete, excavation and self-perform operations. The selected candidate will provide dedicated site safety support and work closely with project leadership throughout the duration of the project, which is anticipated to provide more than two years of site coverage.

Schedule Expectations
  • Minimum 45-hour work week.
  • Overtime opportunities available.
  • Occasional Saturday work may be required based on project needs and construction schedules.

  • Extended project hours may be required during critical construction phases.

  • Ability to walk, stand, bend, climb, and work on uneven terrain throughout the workday.
  • Ability to observe and identify workplace hazards and unsafe conditions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with employees, customers, subcontractors, and management.
  • Ability to review safety documentation, reports, training materials, and compliance records.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to safely access construction and industrial project environments.
  • Ability to work extended hours when required by project needs.
