Summary
The Project Engineer will be responsible for developing, detailing, and finalizing the technical design of the project, while also providing leadership over technical issues beyond the Enerflex project team. The design and associated information will be documented through project-specific materials such as process flow diagrams, P&IDs (Process and Instrumentation Diagrams), general arrangement drawings, structural and electrical drawings, data sheets, bills of materials, control and process narratives, and reference documents for installation, operation, and maintenance. All deliverables must adhere to company standards, the project proposal, and any specifications or input provided by the customer.
Principle Responsibilities and Duties
- Lead all supporting Engineering Groups—process, instrumentation, controls, design & drafting, vessels, and purchasing—to ensure completion of all tasks for delivering the final product.
- Oversee project management responsibilities by coordinating logistics with the customer and across all relevant Enerflex departments.
- Accountable for engineering and procurement activities as outlined below.
Interface with the Enerflex Applications Team, Engineering Team, and Customers
- Post-project award, liaise with the Applications Team to transfer all estimation data and background information.
- Identify customer requirements and technical problems, providing effective solutions.
- Coordinate technical issues with the customer, including clarifications, comments, and deviation requests.
- Attend internal and external meetings such as kick-offs, coordination, and HAZOPs.
Lead internal design activities and technical decisions
- Develop project P&IDs, requisition major equipment, and coordinate deliverables.
- Participate in design reviews.
- Ensure understanding of customer’s technical needs.
- Generate the engineered Bill of Materials.
- Develop process description narratives and assemble IOM literature.
Plan and manage all engineering activities
- Schedule and manage drawing submissions to the customer.
- Follow up on technical issues during shipment and commissioning.
- Manage engineering hours and monitor vendor drawings progress.
Support and interface with other company functions
- Report on engineering issues and progress.
- Coordinate and approve design & drafting deliverables.
- Interface with suppliers for quotations and BOM accuracy.
- Coordinate with manufacturing, quality, and service teams.
Lead the Quality Assurance program
- Ensure quality requirements are met.
- Perform P&ID walk-downs for compliance.
Training
Enerflex provides training tailored to the background of new Project Engineers to ensure they understand our processes, systems, and business models, enabling efficient work execution.
Qualifications
- Engineering or Engineering Technology degree, or equivalent experience (minimum 8 years).
- Understanding of equipment fundamentals used in our products.
- Experience with mid-stream systems like Condensate Stabilizers, Amine units, TEG, Cryo’s, CO2 Capture/Liquefaction.
- Skills in Mechanical Design, Thermodynamics, Chemistry, Instrumentation & Controls.
- Teamwork, professionalism, and fluency in English.
- Strong IT and problem-solving skills.
- Customer-oriented communication and interpersonal skills.
Physical Requirements
Fast-paced office environment with occasional domestic and international travel.
