Job summary

Cordoba Corporation seeks an experienced Project Engineer in Inland Empire, CA, to support full life-cycle management of commercial and public/educational facility projects. You will assist the Project/Construction Manager across planning, design coordination, permitting, procurement, construction, and close-out.

• Five (5) years of experience in Construction Management of Commercial and/or Public/Educational Facility Construction.
• Three (3) of those years should have full responsibility for coordinating complex projects with construction values in excess of $20M (single project).
• Proficiency in use of Procore (or other PM software), Bluebeam, MS Office Suite.
• Experience and knowledgeable with DSA process during construction phase.

Responsibilities

• Assists the Project Manager or Construction Manager in overseeing project life cycle activities from planning through close-out.
• Assists in reviewing pre-construction documents and submitting comments to the Designer-of-Record as necessary.
• Assists in planning, organizing and preparing reports to upper management on project status and progress.
• Coordinates with public agencies during pre-construction and construction to comply with off-site work and owner/project staff.
• Helps manage project budget and schedule to meet owner standards and monitors monthly progress.
• Manages daily activities of designers/contractors, reviews schedules and RFIs, and coordinates responses.
• Assists in reviewing substitution submittals to ensure compliance with specifications.
• Negotiates Architect/Contractor changes to achieve fair pricing and tracks schedule impacts.
• Reviews progress and payments to contractors, architects, labs/inspection, and others.
• Administers Professional Service Agreements between Architects and the owner.
• Coordinates delivery of fixtures, furniture, and equipment.
• Monitors and manages project close-out and certification with DSAs for educational facilities or occupancy for commercial projects.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Overview

Cordoba is seeking an experienced Project Engineer, with a minimum of5 years’ experience of full-time professional project/construction management. Excellent construction management experience managing projects within large programs with construction values over $20M. Experience in educational facility construction, public works, or large commercial/healthcare projects is required. Please see the full job description for more details.

Responsibilities

• Assists the Project Manager or Construction Manager (depending on phase) in overseeing project life cycle activities, starting with Planning, Design coordination, permitting, constructability review, pre-construction bid document review and finalization, procurement, contract award, construction, and close-out phases of all assigned projects.
• Assists in reviewing pre-construction documents and submits comments to the Designer-of-Record as necessary.
• Assists in planning, organizing and preparing reports to upper management with respect to the status and/or progress of the assigned projects.
• Coordinates with all pertinent public agencies during pre-construction and construction to comply with all off-site work coordinates with various owner/project staff.
• Helps manage both the project budget and schedule to meet owner’s qualitative standards; assists in monitoring project budgets monthly and ensures that the budgets accurately reflect the project status/progress.
• Helps manage daily activities of the designers and/or contractors, reviews designers’/contractors’ schedules, including various submittals, and coordinates responses to the contractors’ inquiries through the Requests for Information (RFI) process and other related documents.
• Assists in reviewing substitution submittals from architects or contractors to ensure specification and/or owner requirement compliance.
• Receives, reviews, and assists in negotiating Architectural Add Services or Contractor Change Order Proposal(s) to achieve a fair & reasonable price in accordance with the General Conditions; reviews and addresses all Schedule impacts in accordance with the project specifications in a timely manner.
• Reviews progress and monitors payments to the contractor, architects, lab/inspection, and any other pertinent parties.
• Administers provisions of Professional Service Agreements between Architects and the owner.
• Coordinates owner delivery of related fixtures, furniture, and equipment.
• Instrumental in monitoring and managing project close-out with respect to project certification with the Division of State Architects (DSA) if K-14 educational facility, or certificate of occupancy if commercial project. Financial close-out applicable to both types of projects.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
