Job summary

CB&I is seeking a Project Engineer for LT&C Tanks in Plainfield, IL to manage the engineering scope of projects and provide leadership to design discipline leads. The role ensures the integrity of work and interfaces with project management, procurement, and clients.

The position reports to the Manager of Engineering and involves coordinating engineering deliverables, schedules, and budgets while maintaining communications across CB&I functions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited school.
  • 0 to 2 years of industry experience in engineering.
  • Professional Engineering registered is desired, or desire to obtain Professional Engineering license.
  • Understanding of AISC, ASCE, IBC, API, ACI and associated structural codes is required.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Provides direction and coordinates the engineering and design discipline leads on an assigned project.
  • Lead execution of engineering deliverables including the engineering schedule, budget, document controls, and manpower staffing of engineering deliverables.
  • Establishes project procedures to ensure deliverables meet client and established engineering and project requirements.
  • Ensures effective communications among the engineering disciplines.
  • Reviews work with client, management, and functional leads.
  • Identifies problems and coordinates with the engineering team to correct.
  • Proactively identifies and manages change.
  • Maintains and promotes a focus on CB&I's end product whether engineering, fabrication, or construction.
  • May be assigned as the Project Engineering Manager for a project.

Overview

The Project Engineer is an individual contributor responsible for managing all or part of the engineering scope of a CB&I project including the execution of engineering deliverables. The Project Engineer provides leadership and instruction to the engineering and design discipline leads on an assigned project. This position is ultimately responsible for the integrity of the work produced. Work includes the administrative and technical management, schedule, cost, and quantity control. The role directly reports to the Manager of Engineering and routinely interacts with clients and all CB&I functions including project management, procurement, subcontracting, estimating, etc.

Local Requirements

Project Engineer - LT&C Tanks will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of complex steel low temperature and cryogenic storage tank structures constructed for CB&I projects throughout the world.

CB&I is seeking engineers with a Bachelor’s degree in engineering with 0 to 5 years of industry experience in project engineering. Professional licensing is a plus.

Job location is in Plainfield, IL.

The Project Engineer - LT&C Tanks is responsible for working alongside the precontract and contract design teams supporting design and detailing activities and assisting with all tasks associated with the LT&C Tank precontract and contract execution.

Responsibilities Include
  • Support the Engineering Team in day-to-day coordination of design and detailing tasks and activities
  • Coordinate CB&I Engineering Disciplines: LT&C Tank Engineering, Topsides Engineering, Foundation Engineering, Process Engineering
  • Project Set-up, Project Tracking and Reporting
  • Miscellaneous Structural Calculations
  • Writing and Checking Project Specifications
  • Creation of Specification and Material Requisitions
  • Support LT&C Research and Design Activities and Testing
  • Liaison with Operations and Client

Pay Range

$105,179-$131,474 USD/Annually
