Job summary

Giffels Webster seeks a Project Engineer to join our Detroit Headquarters, contributing to urban land development projects that revitalize the City of Detroit. You will work in a team led by the Project Manager, with autonomy on multiple engineering tasks.

The role involves collaborating on geometrics, grading, pavement design, utilities, and stormwater/green infrastructure, with opportunities for field visits and construction administration with a hybrid schedule.

Qualifications

  • ABET-accredited civil engineering degree or equivalent experience.
  • 1–3 years of Civil Engineering experience.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD software.

Responsibilities

  • Geometrics design and analysis.
  • Grading and pavement design.
  • Soil erosion and sediment control.
  • Utility (storm, sanitary, and water) design.
  • Stormwater management and green infrastructure design.
  • Traffic control plans preparation.
  • Prepare details, drawings, and specifications.
  • Record drawings and specifications.
  • Attend meetings and coordinate with team.
  • Field visits and construction administration tasks.
  • Prepare permit applications and cost estimates.

Description: Giffels Webster has an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer to join our Detroit Headquarters, working on several high-profile urban land development projects that are contributing to the revitalization of the City of Detroit.

The ideal candidate will possess the ability to work independently on various engineering projects. You will work in a team environment led by the Partner in charge/Project Manager on a variety of tasks.

  • Perform construction administration tasks

In-person collaboration and mentoring are paramount to the success of this position. With experience and the approval of your supervisor, you could earn the ability to work a hybrid schedule, up to two days per week remotely and three days in the office.

Requirements
Minimum qualifications:
  • You have a civil engineering degree from an ABET accredited university or equivalent amount of applicable experience
  • At least 1-3 years of Civil Engineering experience
  • Must have experience in AutoCAD software
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in Civil3D
  • Experience with road, storm, sanitary and water design
  • Experience in Bluebeam
  • Exposure to Municipal and/or Private Development projects
