Job summary

Monteith Construction is seeking a Project Engineer to support the project team in Raleigh, NC. You will work closely with the Assistant Project Manager or Project Manager to manage documentation, billing, meetings, and liaison duties with clients, design partners, and trade partners.

Ideal candidates have a degree in Engineering or Construction Management and 0–3 years in commercial construction, with strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• 0–3 years in commercial construction.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Transmit and organize project documents (plans, RFIs, specs).
• Prepare monthly project billings and track cash flow.
• Coordinate and attend project meetings with stakeholders.
• Serve as liaison between Monteith Construction and clients, design partners, and trade partners.
• Assist superintendent/PM with inspections and change order management.
• Facilitate project closeout and permit processes.

What You'll Do At Monteith

As a Project Engineer, you will work closely with the Assistant Project Manager or Project Manager to manage many aspects of the construction process. Some of the primary responsibilities of this position are the transmission of various project-related documents, preparing monthly project billings, coordinating and attending meetings with project stakeholders, and acting as a go‑to liaison between Monteith Construction and our clients, design partners, and trade partners.

Additional responsibilities may include:

• Enter and organize project documentation including plans, specifications, RFIs, and document revisions.
• Assist the superintendent and project manager with tracking inspections.
• Initiate and submit monthly pay applications to ensure positive cash flow on projects.
• Work with the Project Manager for change order management.
• Facilitate the weekly or monthly OAC meeting agendas and manage any necessary correspondence.
• Apply for local and state permits.
• Lead the project closeout process.

Experience You Should Have

• Relevant experience or a degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
• 0-3 years in commercial construction
• Excellent communication skills; both written and oral
• Strong understanding of the construction process
• Desire to work in a team environment
• Ability to work non-traditional hours when needed
