Job summary

Monteith Construction Corp. is seeking a Project Engineer in Raleigh, NC to support the project team by managing documents, preparing monthly billings, and coordinating with clients, design partners, and trade partners.

You will collaborate with the Assistant Project Manager or Project Manager, enter project docs, track inspections, and assist with change orders and permit applications. A team-oriented mindset is essential.

Qualifications

• Degree or relevant field in engineering or construction management.
• 0–3 years of experience in commercial construction.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Strong understanding of the construction process.
• Desire to work in a team environment.
• Ability to work non-traditional hours when needed.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and transmit project documents and prepare monthly billings.
• Coordinate and attend meetings with project stakeholders and liaise with clients, design partners, and trade partners.
• Enter and organize project documentation including plans, specifications, RFIs, and revisions.
• Assist superintendent and project manager with tracking inspections.
• Initiate and submit monthly pay applications to ensure positive cash flow on projects.
• Work with the Project Manager for change order management.
• Facilitate weekly or monthly OAC meeting agendas and manage correspondence.
• Apply for local and state permits.
• Lead the project closeout process.

What You’ll Do At Monteith

As a Project Engineer, you will work closely with the Assistant Project Manager or Project Manager to manage many aspects of the construction process. Some of the primary responsibilities of this position are the transmission of various project-related documents, preparing monthly project billings, coordinating and attending meetings with project stakeholders, and acting as a go-to liaison between Monteith Construction and our clients, design partners, and trade partners.

Additional responsibilities may include:

• Enter and organize project documentation including plans, specifications, RFIs, and document revisions.
• Assist the superintendent and project manager with tracking inspections.
• Initiate and submit monthly pay applications to ensure positive cash flow on projects.
• Work with the Project Manager for change order management.
• Facilitate the weekly or monthly OAC meeting agendas and manage any necessary correspondence.
• Apply for local and state permits.
• Lead the project closeout process.

Experience You Should Have

• Relevant experience or a degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
• 0-3 years in commercial construction
• Excellent communication skills; both written and oral
• Strong understanding of the construction process
• Desire to work in a team environment
