Job summary

Independence Excavating, Inc. seeks a Project Engineer Co-op/Intern to support estimating, project management, and field coordination on heavy civil construction projects. You will gain hands-on experience across bidding, scheduling, and cost evaluation under experienced engineers.

Students enrolled in civil engineering or construction management programs, traveling opportunities nationwide, and 40+ hour weeks during term.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in a 2- or 4-year college pursuing an associate or bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related field.
• Internship preferred for at least two terms and 40+ hour weeks.
• Willingness to travel; travel across offices nationwide.

Responsibilities

• Assist in estimating and project management.
• Prepare RFIs, submittals, payment requisitions, change orders.
• Perform quantity takeoffs for materials, subs, and self-performed work.
• Assist PM in evaluating job costs and developing schedules.
• Support field coordination with the assistant superintendent and surveying team.
