Job summary

TWC Concrete Construction is seeking a Field Project Engineer to support project execution from start to finish in the Cincinnati, OH area. You will work with Project Managers and field teams, focusing on documentation, coordination, and quality control for self-perform concrete operations.

  • 2+ years of construction experience or equivalent training.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret plans, specs, and cost reports.
  • Strong communication with field teams, PMs, and owners.
  • Proficient with Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain contract documents, addenda, RFIs, and proposals; update weekly as site conditions dictate.
  • Assist in project scheduling and sequence planning.
  • Control materials, equipment expediting, and submittals; verify delivery dates.
  • Review shop drawings for contract compliance and coordinate with PM/Superintendent.
  • Lead QC processes, prepare change orders, and support project closeout.

Job description

TWC Concrete is growing in the Cincinnati, OH area and have an excellent opportunity for a Field Project Engineer to join our team. As a Project Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting project execution from start to finish, ensuring documentation, coordination, and quality control processes are maintained at the highest level. In this role, you will work closely with Project Managers and field teams with a strong emphasis on self-perform concrete operations.

What You Will Do:

  • Maintain contract documents, posting and distribution of addenda, field orders, RFI’s clarifications and Requests for Proposal. Documents shall be updated weekly or more frequently as site conditions dictate.
  • Know project sequence and assist in project scheduling as directed.
  • Under the direction of the Project Manager, control the material and equipment expediting process including submittal, fabrication, release and delivery dates. Regularly verify delivery dates.
  • Control shop drawings and submittals and review/coordinate for contract compliance and establish a routing process to ensure that all involved in the work are kept informed of the approved shop drawings or status thereof. Use review checklist as an aid. Discuss critical shop drawings with the Project Manager and/or Superintendent prior to submission.
  • Attend preconstruction meetings with our Project Manager/Superintendent and design team and/or owner as required.
  • Working with our Project Manager/Superintendent, keep daily log of events and decisions; document the job history. Take daily, pre-pour and overall progress photos.
  • Coordinate Requests for Information to and from architectural engineer, owner, and other contractors and subcontractors.
  • With assistance of the Project Manager assemble contractor proposals and prepare owner change order requests including any pricing of self-performed work. Compose subcontract and supplier change orders.
  • Control and manage project closeout including warranties, as-builts, O&M Manuals, etc. Ensure contract and closeout goals are maintained.
  • Set up and manage all project controls logs including drawing, rebar, PT, pipe, QC, concrete and other logs as project circumstances dictate.
  • Leads the project QC including all deviation reports, pre-pour inspections, completion lists, testing reports, etc. Actively share with the Project Manager and Superintendent.
  • With assistance of the Project Manager establish exhibit B for the contract as requested.
  • Perform job duties from jobsite. Travel as required.
  • Perform additional assignments as directed by the Project Manager.

What You Will Bring:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or other engineering-related curriculum and a minimum of two (2) years’ construction experience or equivalent combinations of technical training and related experiences.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business and technical documents, cost reports, legal and regulatory documents and plans, drawings, specifications, and scope of work.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers and regulatory agencies.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of field management, craftsmen, and customers.
  • Proficient with Microsoft software programs such as Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Vista & Keystyle

Physical Demands:

  • Regularly required to sit, talk and listen
  • Must have the ability to exert physical effort, handling average weight objects up to 20 pounds
  • Frequently required to use hands to handle or feel
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms
  • Work is primarily in an office environment but involves exposure to outside weather and jobsite conditions.
