Job summary

James G. Davis Construction Corp. is seeking a Project Engineer to assist the Project Team with daily management and execution of the construction process on site.

You will help with safety, cost, site management, scheduling, estimating, and contract administration to support successful project delivery and closeout.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or related field.
  • Knowledge of engineering and construction project management principles.
  • Experience with project management and scheduling software.
  • Experience with sustainable building practices (LEED) a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares cost estimates and quantity take-offs, generates scopes of work, and prepares preliminary schedules and site logistics.
  • Assists with trade management and reviewing trade partner work tickets.
  • Assists with the three-week look-ahead schedules.
  • Creates and maintains tracking logs for contract documents, submittals, shop drawings, RFIs, change orders, and material deliveries.
  • Prepares subcontract agreements, purchase orders, and assists in change proposals and change orders.
  • Maintains contract documents and “as-builts” and enforces safety programs.

SUMMARY

The Project Engineer is responsible for assisting the Project Team with the daily management and execution of the construction process. This role will assist in safety management, cost management, site management, contracting, scheduling, estimating, and contract administration functions to help ensure successful completion of the project. The role plans, develops, coordinates, and manages onsite construction engineering activities for projects.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field, or equivalent construction experience Knowledge of principles and practices of engineering and construction project management, including safety standards Demonstrated ability to understand and learn technical systems and processes Project management and scheduling software experience Sustainable building experience (such as LEED certified projects) or knowledge of sustainable building practices a plus Certifications / accreditations (CPR / First Aid, OSHA 30-hour, WELL, ILFI, LEED) a plus

TECHNICAL JOB KNOWLEDGE

Prepares cost estimates and quantity take-offs, generates scopes of work, and prepares preliminary schedules and site logistics Assists with trade management and reviewing trade partner work tickets Assists with the three-week look-ahead schedules Creates and maintains tracking logs for contract documents, submittals, shop drawings, RFIs, change orders, and material deliveries Prepares subcontract agreements, purchase orders, and assists in the issuance of change proposals and change orders Creates and manages quality control and deficiency logs Maintains a complete, current, and accurate set of contract documents and “as-builts” Enforces the DAVIS Safety program and participates in safety walks Assists in the management of the project closeout process, including preparing and completing job closeout checklists and managing the project punch list process

Salary and Benefits

The base salary (or hourly) range for this position is $78,000.00 - $90,000.00. DAVIS is committed to providing our employees with a competitive total compensation package that enhances your quality of life. DAVIS offers a 100% employer-paid health care plan (to include family), life insurance, short- and long-term disability benefits, and an annual contribution to your HSA. DAVIS also offers annual incentive bonus, paid time off + annual holidays, financial benefits (401(k), Roth, and ESOP), FSAs, fertility and family-forming assistance, and continuing education. Additional benefits include Employee Assistance Program (EAP), on-site fitness center, and parental leave. Eligible employees are provided a company vehicle or an auto allowance to support business activities. The compensation and benefits information are provided as of the date of this posting.
