Job summary

Kiewit Offshore Services (KOS) yard in Ingleside, TX seeks a Project Engineer to oversee multiple industrial building projects from planning through execution. You’ll supervise subcontractors, manage schedules, review plans, and drive cost forecasting while leading a team on-site.

Ideal candidates have construction Engineering or CM background, 5+ years of field experience, and strong safety ethics. Mentoring and growth opportunities are emphasized in a collaborative, employee-owned culture.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering or equivalent.
  • 5+ years’ work experience in construction or engineering, vertical construction preferred.
  • 2+ years' experience managing engineers and project subcontractors
  • Ability to read, analyze and identify discrepancies on engineering plans, specifications, and contract documents
  • Demonstrated commitment to ethics and integrity; passion for safety
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Team player with the ability to work independently to meet deadlines
  • Ability to travel and relocate as needed in the future

Responsibilities

  • Perform Contract Compliance, quality control & Field Oversight of subcontractors on the project
  • Develop a complete understanding of contract plans and specifications.
  • Inspect field conditions to identify problems, inaccuracies, and potential cost-saving measures.
  • Take corrective actions as needed to resolve field issues.
  • Review subordinates’ work for compliance with contract documents; address deficiencies and implement corrective measures.
  • Project Scheduling & Coordination
  • Develop and maintain the project master schedule using appropriate techniques and scheduling software.
  • Collaborate with project management personnel to gather input and ensure schedule accuracy.
  • Manage document control processes including logging and tracking new issue drawings and contract documents.
  • Review new issue drawings for changes in conditions; quantify impacts and communicate with supervisor.
  • Distribute updated documents to field teams and ensure proper implementation.
  • Prepare monthly cost projections using data from project management systems.
  • Develop quarterly cash flow projections to support financial planning.
  • Operational Improvement & Leadership
  • Recommend improvements to project operations including staffing, methods, and procedures.
  • Serve as managing project engineer/coordinator across multiple projects.
  • Provide supervision and on-the-job training for junior engineers and project staff.

District Overview

Kiewit Building Group specializes in constructing office buildings, industrial complexes, education and sports facilities, hotels, hospitals, transportation terminals, science and technology facilities, manufacturing, retail and special-use facilities and extensive interior construction with tenant improvements. Its capabilities include general construction, construction management, design‑build, design‑assist and turn‑key project development. Kiewit also provides fast, accurate preconstruction project management services. This role will be based at our Kiewit Offshore Services (KOS) yard in Ingleside, TX.
