Job summary

Hoyle Tanner is hiring a Bridge Project Engineer in our Transportation Division in Burlington, VT. This role offers a flexible schedule, remote work opportunities, and a generous sign-on bonus as part of a comprehensive benefits package.

If you have 5+ years of structural bridge design experience and hold a PE license in NH/MA/ME/VT, you will contribute to multi-disciplinary teams on significant projects. You will manage assignments with limited direction, develop budgets, and mentor junior

Qualifications

• BS (MS preferred) Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.
• 5 - 10 years of relevant experience.
• Current PE in NH, MA, ME, or VT.
• Experience with MaineDOT, NHDOT, VTrans or MassDOT and municipal bridge projects.
• Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, Bridge Structural Analysis Programs, MathCad, BlueBeam, etc.
• Salary is contingent on experience.

Responsibilities

• Have a primary role in an integrated, multi-disciplined team that solves technical challenges on projects of significant scope, size, and difficulty.
• Complete assignments accurately and on time with limited direction from the Project Manager.
• Develop an understanding of project budget, scope of services, project development, project schedule and provide updates and recommendations to the Project Manager in maintaining schedule and budget.
• Understand the client's organization, key people, and client expectations.
• Share best practices to improve performance and efficiency of self and team.
• Develop person-hour estimates and budgets with guidance from senior staff.
• Lead a small team for moderately complex projects.
• Assist in proposal efforts and development.
• Provide coaching, mentoring and feedback to develop entry-level and staff engineers, peers, and others as needed.
• Conduct site visits and participate in or lead meetings with clients/contractors.
• Demonstrate strong technical writing and presentation skills for deliverables, proposals, and presentation in a public setting.

Situated in the heart of Burlington’s downtown district, our office sits high on the fourth floor of the Wells-Richardson historic building overlooking the beautiful Lake Champlain waterfront and Adirondack Mountains.
