Hoyle Tanner & Associates, Inc. seeks a Bridge Project Engineer in Burlington, VT with 5+ years of structural bridge design experience. You will lead a multi-disciplinary team, manage budgets and schedules, and coordinate with clients to meet expectations.

Qualifications

• BS (MS preferred) degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.
• 5–10 years of relevant experience.
• Current PE in NH, MA, ME or VT.
• Experience with MaineDOT, NHDOT, VTrans or MassDOT and municipal bridge projects.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Microstation and bridge analysis software.

Responsibilities

• Be a primary role in an integrated, multi-disciplined team on large projects.
• Develop budgets, scope of services, schedules and update the Project Manager.
• Lead a small team for moderately complex projects.
• Provide coaching and mentoring to staff engineers and peers.
• Conduct site visits and lead client/contractor meetings.
• Demonstrate strong technical writing and presentation skills.

Location: Burlington, VT

Situated in the heart of Burlington’s downtown district, our office sits high on the fourth floor of the Wells-Richardson historic building overlooking the beautiful Lake Champlain waterfront and Adirondack Mountains.

As a Project Engineer, You Will Be Responsible For

• Have a primary role in an integrated, multi-disciplined team that solves technical challenges on projects of significant scope, size, and difficulty
• Complete assignments accurately and on time with limited direction from the Project Manager
• Develop an understanding of project budget, scope of services, project development, project schedule and provide updates and recommendations to the Project Manager in maintaining schedule and budget
• Understand the client's organization, key people, and client expectations
• Share best practices to improve performance and efficiency of self and team
• Develop person-hour estimates and budgets with guidance from senior staff
• Lead a small team for moderately complex projects
• Assist in proposal efforts and development
• Provide coaching, mentoring and feedback to develop entry-level and staff engineers, peers, and others as needed
• Conduct site visits and participate in or lead meetings with clients/contractors
• Demonstrate strong technical writing and presentation skills for deliverables, proposals, and presentation in a public setting (for clients or at seminars/conferences)

Requirements

Qualified Candidates will have:

• BS (MS preferred) Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
• 5 - 10 years of relevant experience
• Current PE in NH, MA, ME, or VT
• Experience with MaineDOT, NHDOT, VTrans or MassDOT and municipal bridge projects
• Experience with the software and programs which include AutoCAD, Microstation, Bridge Structural Analysis Programs, MathCad, BlueBeam, etc.
• Salary is contingent on experience
