Job summary

Barton Malow is seeking a Project Engineer to support planning, coordination, and execution of commercial construction projects. You will assist leaders with cost control, scheduling, quality management, and project documentation, coordinating with PMs, Superintendents, subs, and design partners to deliver safely, on time, and within budget.

You will help manage submittals, RFIs, change orders, and logs, support procurement activities, and maintain short-interval schedules and look‑ahead plans

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of commercial construction experience in a Project Engineer role or similar.
  • Understanding of construction means and methods, drawing interpretation, and project controls.
  • Proficiency with Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and scheduling software.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of organization, attention to detail, and follow-through.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Project Manager and Superintendent with day‑to‑day project execution, including cost control, schedule management, and document coordination.
  • Manage and track submittals, RFIs, change requests, and associated logs to ensure timely resolution.
  • Support project buyout, subcontract administration, and procurement activities.
  • Assist with preparation and maintenance of project schedules, including short‑interval planning and look‑ahead schedules.
  • Monitor project costs, support forecasting, and assist with quantity tracking and cost reporting.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and design professionals to support construction activities and resolve field issues.
  • Participate in project meetings, prepare meeting agendas/minutes, and distribute follow‑up documentation.
  • Support implementation of project quality control processes and documentation requirements.
  • Assist with safety planning, compliance tracking, and site safety initiatives.
  • Utilize project management and technology platforms to support project execution.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and lessons learned efforts.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field

Job Type: Full-time

Base Pay: $60,000-90,000 per year based on experience
