Job summary

Onni, a major North American real estate developer, seeks a Project Engineer / Assistant Project Manager for a downtown Chicago multifamily project. You will engage across development and construction, gaining exposure to design, procurement, scheduling, and project controls.

Qualifications

• 2–5+ years of commercial construction experience in a PE, APM, or similar role.
• Ground-up multifamily, high-rise, or large-scale commercial construction experience preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Project Manager with day-to-day management of a major ground-up multifamily project.
• Coordinate with architects, engineers, consultants, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams.
• Review drawings, specs, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and other documentation.
• Assist with project schedules, procurement tracking, budgets, and cost reporting.
• Participate in project meetings and maintain detailed minutes and action-item logs.
• Assist with subcontractor coordination and contract administration.
• Track project progress and help identify schedule, cost, and quality issues.
• Coordinate material procurement and delivery schedules.
• Support the team through construction, closeout, turnover, and punch-list activities.
• Maintain organized project documentation and ensure information is communicated effectively across the project team.
• Work closely with senior project leadership while progressively taking ownership of scopes.
