Job summary

AbbVie in North Chicago, IL, is seeking a project engineer to manage capital projects and provide technical support to the API Pilot Plant and laboratories within the Synthetic Molecule CMC organization.

You will lead small to medium capital projects related to process equipment and facilities, collaborating with process engineers, chemists, and technicians to implement plant improvements and introduce new processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical or mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• 2+ years of relevant engineering and/or operational experience.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Knowledge of process equipment design, P&ID, instrumentation and controls.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute small to medium capital projects through lifecycle from scope to closeout.
• Ensure projects meet scope, cost, and schedule with proper regulatory compliance.
• Lead design of process equipment, facilities, and utilities; participate in FATs/SATs.
• Provide technical support, root cause analysis, and action recommendations.
