Job summary

The City of Leawood, Kansas is hiring an experienced Project Engineer to join its Public Works Department. You'll lead planning, design, and construction of capital improvement projects, coordinating with consultants and contractors to deliver safe, sustainable infrastructure for the community.

This role demands strong project management, clear communication, and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an accredited school.
• Minimum four years of civil engineering design, construction, project management, or equivalent experience.
• PE license required; if licensed in another state, Kansas registration must be obtained within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate planning, design, and construction of streets, bridges, storm sewer, signals, lighting, and parks.
• Coordinate consultant design projects for accuracy and code compliance.
• Assist with private development projects related to traffic, drainage, and public infrastructure.
• Collaborate with Construction Inspectors and contractors to enforce construction contracts.
