Job summary

Careers Launch Talent Group is seeking a Project Engineer to design specialty structural elements, including Buckling Restrained Braces (BRBs), and verify connections and gusset plates. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• On track to obtain a Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain is preferred.
• Understanding of current building codes and standards, engineering fundamentals, and structural load paths.
• Familiarity with seismic and structural steel design preferred.
• Proficiency with MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Operational knowledge of RAM SS, ETABS, RISA, etc.

Responsibilities

• Design of BRBs and their connections.

• Assist with design alongside SEORs responsible for BRB-based structures.

• Address plan check and peer review comments related to BRB design.
• Support bidding, pricing, travel, marketing, and R&D activities as needed.

Job description

The Project Engineer is responsible for the design of specialty structural elements utilizing a thorough understanding of their configuration and behavior based on theory, full-scale testing, and analytical resources. The Project Engineers consult closely with Structural Engineers of Record (SEORs) during the design stage of a project and interact with other parties such as steel fabricators, detailers and general contractors throughout the duration of projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design of specialty structural elements known as Buckling Restrained Braces (BRBs) and their connections.
• Design of gusset plates and verification of local effects in frame members.
• Analysis of relevant project documents to ensure compliance with specified design requirements.
• Design assist with the Structural Engineers of Record (SEORs) responsible for the overall design of structures that use BRBs.
• Coordination with SEORs, steel fabricators, detailers and/or erectors during all stages of assigned projects.
• Generation of deliverable documents, such as design drawings and calculation packages.
• Review and verification of shop drawings.
• Response to Requests for Information (RFIs) from the field and/or from the shop as required during installation and manufacturing.
• Addressing of plan check and/or peer review comments pertinent to the design of BRBs.
• Performing of other occasional duties as assigned, including but not limited to assistance with bidding/pricing, occasional traveling, marketing, and Research and Development (R&D) related activities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• On track to obtain a Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to preferred.
• Understanding of current building codes and standards, engineering fundamentals, and structural load paths.
• Familiarity with seismic and structural steel design preferred.
• Proficiency with MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Operational knowledge of commercial structural analysis software preferred (RAM SS, ETABS, RISA, etc.)
• Attention to detail and strong focus on quality.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.
