Job summary

PL ASSOCIATES INC. (PLA) is seeking a Project Engineer to support the Potomac Interceptor Program in the Washington, DC area. The role involves coordinating design development, reviewing calculations, and interfacing with consultants, contractors, and DC Water stakeholders.

Ideal candidates have 5–10 years of engineering experience and MD/VA PE preferred, with reciprocity achievable within six months. Hybrid work requires in-office presence three days per week.

Qualifications

  • 5–10 years of engineering experience with municipal or utility projects.
  • Experience supporting sewer, wastewater, underground utility, or rehabilitation work.
  • Strong ability to coordinate design and construction activities.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Project Manager in delivering large sewer rehabilitation projects.
  • Prepare and review engineering calculations, plans, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Coordinate design development and permitting activities.
  • Review contractor submittals, RFIs, change orders, and construction documentation.
  • Participate in design reviews and construction meetings.
  • Track project schedules, budgets, and action items.
  • Provide construction engineering support during project execution.
  • Coordinate with consultants, contractors, and DC Water stakeholders.

Location
  • DC Water Clean Rivers Facility (CMF Building), Blue Plains
  • Hybrid: Minimum 3 days per week in the office
Experience
  • 5–10 years of relevant engineering experience
  • Experience supporting municipal sewer, wastewater, underground utility, or rehabilitation projects
Licensure
  • Maryland or Virginia PE preferred
  • Ability to obtain reciprocity within six (6) months if not currently licensed
Key Responsibilities
