Family Fresh Pack Inc. seeks a Project Engineer to lead capital projects from concept to commissioning, driving safety, quality, yield, and performance improvements in our food packaging manufacturing environment.

You will manage scopes, equipment specs, vendor relations, and startup activities while collaborating with Operations, Quality, and Finance to deploy new equipment and support new product introductions. Strong design and data-driven decision skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required.
  • 3–5 years of engineering experience in manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of sanitary design principles for food production.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CAD software (AutoCAD/SolidWorks).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills across departments and vendors.

Responsibilities

About The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Project Engineer to join our dynamic team at Family Fresh Pack Inc. This pivotal role involves leading capital projects that enhance safety, improve quality, increase yield, and optimize operational performance. The Project Engineer will oversee projects from initial concept through to commissioning, ensuring timely and within-budget execution. Responsibilities include project scoping, equipment selection, vendor management, installation, and startup activities. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and Finance teams to deploy new equipment, support new product introductions, and expand manufacturing capabilities. Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably in Mechanical, Industrial, or a related discipline. A minimum of 3-5 years of engineering experience within a manufacturing environment is required, with a proven track record of managing or supporting capital projects, equipment installations, or facility expansions. Experience in food manufacturing, packaging, or consumer packaged goods industries is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate a solid understanding of equipment design, project management, and manufacturing systems, along with knowledge of sanitary design principles and hygienic system integration specific to food production. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential to work effectively across departments and with external vendors. Additionally, proficiency with Microsoft Office and CAD software such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks is necessary. An analytical mindset and the ability to make data-driven decisions are also important for success in this role.

Responsibilities
Project Engineering & Technical Ownership
  • Lead engineering projects from concept through implementation, commissioning, and startup, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Develop comprehensive project scopes, equipment specifications, timelines, budgets, and technical requirements to facilitate smooth project execution.
  • Assist with new product launches and packaging innovations by identifying and implementing suitable equipment and process solutions.
  • Evaluate manufacturing needs to recommend automation, equipment, and technology solutions that support business growth and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Operations and Maintenance teams to design and optimize production layouts, material flow, and equipment placement for new lines and facility improvements.
Capital Planning & Deployment
  • Support the development of plant capital expenditure plans, including project justifications and financial analyses in partnership with the Finance team.
  • Manage assigned capital projects, overseeing budgeting, scheduling, vendor coordination, installation, commissioning, and startup activities.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for equipment vendors, contractors, and system integrators throughout project execution phases.
  • Participate in equipment acceptance testing, commissioning, and performance validation to ensure project objectives are met.
  • Monitor project costs, schedules, and risks to ensure successful delivery within approved budgets and timelines.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to facilitate seamless integration of new equipment and systems into existing operations.
Regulatory Compliance
  • Ensure all projects, equipment installations, and process modifications adhere to applicable food safety, environmental, and occupational safety standards.
  • Design and implement solutions that support compliance with GMPs, HACCP, SQF, FDA, OSHA, and other relevant regulations.
  • Partner with Quality, Operations, Maintenance, and EHS teams to identify and mitigate regulatory and operational risks during project planning and execution.
  • Incorporate safety, ergonomics, machine guarding, food safety, and environmental considerations into equipment selection, facility layouts, and process designs.
  • Support audits, inspections, and compliance initiatives by providing technical expertise and comprehensive project documentation as needed.
