Job summary

Qualifications

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • 5–8 years of experience with AutoCAD design software preferred.
  • Proficient use of MS Office Applications.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise and leadership in engineering to develop, design, and improve plant projects.
  • Initiate and evaluate engineering cost, design, and implementation for capital projects.
  • Manage projects including machine design, integration, scheduling, and cost estimation.
  • Prepare complex layouts and drawings following Engineering Standards and safety practices.
  • Support Lean/Six Sigma initiatives and continuous improvement across departments.

Job Summary

The Project Engineer is responsible for providing management and engineering support for capital projects. Initiates and supports continuous process improvement efforts while supporting Lean/Six Sigma efforts. Provides continual support to all departments. Works under minimal supervision.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provide technical expertise and leadership in the engineering disciplines to all departments to assist in development, conceptual, design, and performance.
  • Initiates and provides engineering cost evaluation, design, and implementation of plant projects.
  • Responsible for project management including machine design & integration, scheduling, planning, and cost estimation.
  • Prepare complex machine layouts and detailed drawings in accordance with Engineering Standards and Factory Mutual safe practices.
  • Develops new or improved techniques or procedures by creative and innovative application of broad engineering disciplines to achieve “state-of-the-art” technologies.
  • Conducts research in problem areas of major scope and complexity.
  • Performs or directs the preparation of engineering studies and/or design documents consistent with recognized standards and project requirements. Ensures proper level of technology is applied in new or existing designs and maintains accurate files of various projects.
  • Select equipment and plan and oversee installation for various projects.
  • Negotiate contracts for capital purchases.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
  • Responsible for compliance with all facility food safety, food defense, and quality policies and procedures including product safety (GMPs)/Sanitation policies and procedures. Employee must continually work to promote the orderliness and cleanliness of their work area in support of SQF/5S and other company standards.
  • Must be supportive and involved in GPI efforts for LEAN, 5S, Six Sigma and other Continuous Improvement programs and processes.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
  • Strives to clearly understand customer requirements and delivers results to meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Ability and responsibility to stop any process that is not meeting food safety requirements.
Safe Quality Food Responsibilities
  • Follow all Plant rules, Processes, Hygiene, and Allergens procedures, related to production of Safe Quality Foods.
  • Report to person of authority to record any potentially unsafe conditions which may result in unsafe foods or noncompliance to SQF related procedures.
  • Participate in SQF Root Cause and Corrective Actions (from customer complaints, SQF audits, validation, and verification activities) as required.
  • Follow all procedures related to producing Safe Quality Foods (SQF).
  • Report any potentially unsafe SQF conditions or customer complaints to a person of authority to record and/or correct the situation
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and 5-8 years of experience in a manufacturing, preferably folding cartons or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent written and veal communications skills
  • 5 – 8 years of experience with Auto Cad design software preferred
  • Proficient use of MS Office Applications.
  • Ability to manage projects, resources and people and set and meet target disciplines
  • Ability to develop improvements, achieve budget/cost constraints
