BFL Construction is seeking a Project Engineer in Tucson, AZ to lead project administration, support PMs, and contribute to scheduling, contract interpretation, and risk assessment on construction projects.

Position Summary:

The Project Engineer is responsible for executing all Project Administrative Coordinator responsibilities while also assuming greater technical, contractual, can create schedules, and contributes to the financial execution for construction projects. This role owns analytical decision-making, interprets contract requirements, manages schedule performance, and advises management on project risk, recovery strategies, and outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Administration & Coordination

• Support Project Managers during all phases of construction.
• Assist with day-to-day-project administration, coordination, and communication.
• Manage and maintain all project documentation, including but not limited to: RFI, Submittals, plans, logs, subcontracts, insurance documentation
• Prepare, organize, distribute, and archive project materials.
• Develop and maintain construction tracking logs (RFI logs, submittal logs, plan logs, etc.).
• Attend site meetings and routine site visits; document and distribute meeting minutes and action items.
• Coordinate project close-out documentation, including warranties, manuals, and deficiencies.

Financial & Contract Administration

• Process subcontracts and purchase orders with an understanding of scope, risk, and contractual alignment.
• Coordinate with accounting and finance teams to ensure accurate and timely project financial records.

RFIs, Submittals, Plans & Change Management

• A clear solid understanding of Construction Plans (know how to read the plans).
• Generate and coordinate RFIs and submittals from receipt through final resolution.
• Ensure RFIs and submittals are technically accurate, complete, and resolved in a timely manner.
• Should be able to request from subcontractors the a RFI and/or Change Orders
• Analyze change requests and change orders for: Cost impact, Schedule impact, Contractual implications
• Advise Project Management on change order strategy, mitigation, and execution.

Schedule Development & Control

The Project Engineer maintains regular jobsite presence to ensure alignment between field execution, project controls, and team coordination.

• Work with Superintendents to develop and understand project schedules at project onset.
• Monitor schedule adherence throughout the project lifecycle.
• Identify schedule risks and contribute to recovery strategies when performance is in jeopardy.

Contractual & Technical Leadership

• Understand and interpret prime contracts and subcontract requirements.
• Communicate contractual obligations and expectations to the project team.
• Establish and maintain strong working relationships with owners, consultants, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
• Provide insights to management that impact: Profitability, schedule performance, customer expectations
